State Senator Julian Cyr Endorses Tanisha Sullivan for Secretary of State

State Senator Julian Cyr Endorses Tanisha Sullivan for Secretary of State

May 10, 2022 — Today, Tanisha Sullivan announced she has received the support of Cape and Islands State Senator Julian Cyr (D-Truro) in her campaign for Secretary of State.

“Julian is a deeply committed champion for the people of the Cape and Islands, and has been a steadfast advocate for a healthier, stronger, and more inclusive Commonwealth,” said Sullivan. “Julian knows the importance of building a more accessible, representative, and responsive democracy in Massachusetts, and he has fought for that change on Beacon Hill. I’m proud to have his support in our campaign, and excited to work alongside him to protect and expand voting rights, foster a culture of civic participation, make our government more transparent, and expand economic opportunity for all.”

“I believe deeply in Tanisha Sullivan’s vision for a Secretary of State’s office that is not just an administrator, but a strong, proactive partner in the work of strengthening our democracy here in Massachusetts,” said Senator Cyr. “In Tanisha, the residents of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket — and people across the Commonwealth — will have a Secretary of State with the experience and commitment to bring more people into the conversation, tackle the deeply entrenched disparities that remain in our state, and find innovative solutions to make our state government more open and responsive to the people it represents. I’m proud to endorse her campaign.”

Senator Cyr is the latest elected official to endorse Sullivan, joining Mayors Sumbul Siddiqui and Katjana Ballantyne of Cambridge and Somerville, respectively, along with nearly two dozen elected officials representing Boston, Springfield, and Holyoke. Sullivan has also earned the support of several labor unions, progressive organizations, and national groups, including Collective PAC, UNITE HERE Local 26, and Progressive Massachusetts, as well as national democracy advocate and former Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Danielle Allen.
