波士頓市長吳弭指派 Eamon Shelton 出任物業管理局長

MAYOR WU ANNOUNCES EAMON SHELTON AS COMMISSIONER OF PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

BOSTON - Tuesday, July 19, 2022 - Mayor Michelle Wu today announced Eamon Shelton as Commissioner of Property Management for the City of Boston. Shelton brings more than ten years of experience as a leader and senior administrator in large dynamic organizations in the fields of project management, facilities management, construction management, and nonprofit management. Shelton’s first day in his new role will be Monday, July 25.

“Safe, healthy and accessible municipal buildings are critical to connecting every resident to Boston's possibility and ensuring that our city is for everyone,” said Mayor Michelle Wu. “With Eamon’s years of experience of managing major system-wide projects, I’m eager to work with him to care for and plan around healthy, accessible, and inspiring city facilities for every resident, visitor and city staff.”

“Our municipal buildings are key to delivering crucial city services and our residents' quality of life,” said Chief of Operations Dion Irish. “I’m thankful to Commissioner Rooney for his years of service to the City of Boston and look forward to working closely with Commissioner Shelton to execute the Mayor’s vision for Boston.”

In his role as Commissioner, Shelton will serve in the Operations Cabinet and work closely with the Chief of Operations and other City officials to execute the Mayor’s vision. Shelton will provide leadership in the management, maintenance, repair, security, and operations of Boston City Hall, City Hall Plaza and several other municipal facilities city-wide. The department will also focus on preserving and protecting the City’s assets in a way that ensures quality delivery of City services and safe, accessible and sustainable municipal buildings for Boston residents and employees.

Prior to joining as Commissioner of Property Management, Shelton spent a decade working for the Boston Public Library, most recently as Director of Operations, where he oversaw the Facilities Management, IT, Security and Project Management departments.  Shelton and his capital construction team worked closely with the City’s Public Facilities Department, who manage multiple major system-wide projects for the Boston Public Library. These projects include the award-winning renovation of the Central Library in Copley Square, the construction of the East Boston branch, and the complete renovation of the award-winning Roxbury Branch in Nubian Square. Shelton managed the construction of the new Adams Street branch, in addition to the state-of-the-art renovation of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Department and conservation lab.

Before the City of Boston, Shelton served as capital projects manager and head of facilities in Georgia’s Gwinnett County Public Library system. Currently, Shelton is a part-time lecturer in Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies, where he mentors graduate students and teaches courses in construction management.  

Shelton holds a master’s degree in Building Construction and Integrated Facilities Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology along with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rhode Island College. Eamon lives in the Orient Heights section of East Boston with his wife and three children.

Shelton is assuming the Commissioner of Property Management position previously held by Gregory T. Rooney, who served in various roles for the City of Boston for almost 30 years.
