SKEMA Business School announces new partnerships with two Chinese universities

SKEMA creates Engineering & Management double diploma and opens new sustainable development incubator for start-ups

April 2014. As part of its development in China, SKEMA Business School has announced two new partnerships with the prestigious University of Science and Technology of China (USTC,中國科技大學) and with Xi'an Jiaotong University(西安交通大學).

With USTC, SKEMA will offer a double degree in Engineering & Management which will provide both technical and management skills to students looking to work in senior positions in the high-tech sector. The technical components of the program will be taught on USTC’s campus in Suzhou during the first year, followed by management courses at one of SKEMA’s campuses in France or the US during the second year.

SKEMA also recently announced the opening of its second incubator in China, XJ-SKEMA Park of Sustainable Development in association with Xi'an Jiaotong University. The 6,000 space, located in the historic Gusu neighborhood of Suzhou, will host up to 50 start-ups specialized in sustainability and luxury management.

These two partnerships are testament to SKEMA’s growing presence in China which, besides its campus in Suzhou, also includes the original XJ-SKEMA Incubator, a 38,000m² facility for start-ups, opened in March 2013 with Xi'an Jiaotong University and Suzhou Research Institute Science & Education Development Co. Ltd (SISED).

USTC is recognized as one of the best universities in China and is considered the "cradle of the scientific elite". USTC has a very selective recruitment: only 0.3 to 0.5% of graduates can enter. Among its alumni are many professors from the best universities in the world: Berkeley, Princeton, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Cornell and Yale, as well as the Vice-President of Microsoft China, the CEO of Haier and the former CEO of Lenovo.

Xi'an Jiaotong University is one of China's oldest institutions of higher learning, founded in Shanghai in 1896.
