Healey-Driscoll Campaign Ramps Up Campus Organizing Program

Students at 22 campuses have completed 1,500 Volunteer Shifts and 200 events

BOSTON – Amid forecasts of a "Gen Z wave" of voting in the 2022 elections, the Healey-Driscoll campaign is ramping up efforts to engage college students across the state. Student volunteers from public, private and community colleges have completed more than 1,500 student volunteer shifts across 22 campuses. They’ve hosted more than 200 events since the program launched on September 1st including tabling, debate watch parties, canvassing, phone banking, text banking and speaker series with candidates. Of the 78 student leaders who lead campus teams, 62 are first-time campaign volunteers.

“As someone who has been organizing on Massachusetts campuses for four years, it has been amazing to see so many young people work to better their communities and fight for what's right through voting and community organizing,” said Director of Campus Engagement Sadie Cowan. “The Healey-Driscoll campaign has placed a high priority on channeling this energy into action, registering new voters and getting out the vote for the Democratic ticket. It is incredibly special how this historic ticket has motivated first time voters and first time volunteers to get out the vote and get involved in our efforts to move Massachusetts forward.”

Students who are interested in volunteering on campus or in their community should reach out to Sadie (sadie@maurahealey.com) or sign up for campus events here.

Healey Scores Third Editorial Board Endorsement from the Springfield Republican

BOSTON – Today, Maura Healey earned the third editorial board endorsement of her candidacy for Governor of Massachusetts. The Springfield Republican editorial board chose Healey as the best candidate to lead the state, citing her experience of standing up to powerful interests on behalf of the people, her commitment to growing Massachusetts’ economy and competitiveness, and her intricate understanding of the issues facing Western Massachusetts.

Here’s what they’re saying:

Attorney General Maura T. Healey is the choice of The Republican to succeed Baker as governor of Massachusetts and usher in a new period of opportunity and growth for the state…

She envisions Massachusetts at the forefront of education, technical training and technology. She has experience in dealing with the needs in Western Massachusetts and pledges to increase contact between Beacon Hill and a western region whose needs demand to be heard…

Too often, Diehl’s campaign has focused on partisan division. That approach would likely leave Massachusetts frozen in place at a time when visionary and progressive leadership is needed more than ever…

Healey previously earned the endorsements of the Boston Globe and the Berkshire Eagle editorial boards.
