Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council Awards $52 Million in Tax Credits to Businesses to Create, Retain Jobs

Projects will create 2,793 new jobs, retain 1,503 existing jobs, and spur more than $1.4 billion in private investment

BOSTON - The Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council (EACC) approved 11 projects for participation in the Economic Development Incentive Program (EDIP) at the June meetings of the EACC. EDIP is a program administered by the Massachusetts Office of Business Development (MOBD) that seeks to create new jobs and help businesses grow by offering tax credits in exchange for job creation commitments. These projects are expected to create 2,793 net new jobs, retain 1,503 existing jobs statewide, and leverage more than $1.4 billion in private investment in exchange for $52 million in state tax credits.

“Massachusetts continues to be a place where businesses choose to invest, grow and create jobs,” said Governor Maura Healey. “These projects will support more than 2,700 new jobs, retain over 1,500 existing jobs and leverage over $1.4 billion in private investment across our state. Through the Economic Development Incentive Program, we're helping companies expand, strengthening local economies and creating good jobs in communities across Massachusetts.”

“The companies supported by these awards are Team Massachusetts success stories,” said Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. “They are choosing to invest and grow in Massachusetts, from Gateway Cities to rural communities and everywhere in between, and we are committed to helping them succeed.”

“The Economic Development Incentive Program is one of the state’s most effective tools for supporting business expansion and job creation,” said Economic Development Secretary Eric Paley. “From robotics and artificial intelligence to advanced manufacturing and life sciences, these companies are making long-term commitments to grow here. That's a strong vote of confidence in Massachusetts as a place where innovation can scale and businesses can succeed.”

EDIP is designed to support business expansion and job creation by offering performance-based tax credits in exchange for commitments to create new jobs, retain existing employees, and invest capital. Ten of the projects approved are manufacturers and six are located in Gateway Cities.
