紐英崙藝術學會將辦李洪智書法展，迎春攝影展

紐英崙藝術協會將於四月份舉辦兩場活動，一為四月八日至十二日的李洪智書法作品展，一為四月廿五日的迎春攝影邀請展。

            紐英崙藝術協會表示，李洪智現為北京師範大學藝術與傳媒學院書法系副教授，碩士研究生導師，也是啟功中國書法研究中心副主任，中國書法家協會會員，中國文字學會會員。

            同時具有漢語言文字學（含書法）專業博士，藝術學博士後等資歷的李洪智，還於 2003年編輯《啟功書法叢書》一書，另主持過2012年度國家社科基金項目“草書字體研究”。

            李洪智在北京、山東等地舉辦過五次個人書法展，作品參與國內外重大展覽百餘次。

            這次他在波士頓的書法展，已訂名“墨痕(乙未·波士頓)”，定四月八日（週三）下午一點，假藝協會址舉行開幕式。

            紐英崙藝術學會主辦的迎春欇影展覧，訂四月廿五日至五月九日在該會會址舉行，將邀請波士頓華人攝影協會會員及攝影家們，展出作品，介紹攝影器材及攝影技巧。

            四月廿五日（週六）下午一點至三點，該會將在會址（25 Edinboro Street, 2/F, Boston, MA）為攝影展舉辦開幕式。

Alberto Broggi Received Lifetime Achievement award from French government

Honorary Doctorate awarded in France to Prof. Alberto Broggi The prestigious award for lifetime achievement by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Parma, April 3 rd , 2015 --- Prof. Alberto Broggi, full professor with the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Parma and CEO of VisLab srl, received the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Honoris Causa during an important ceremony on April 3, 2015 at INSA (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées) in Rouen, France. The Doctorate Honoris Causa is awarded by an institution of higher education to researchers who have distinguished themselves during their career. For the uniqueness of the academic and research topics related to those in which is involved the famous French research institute, INSA has decided to award this honor to Prof. Broggi. Prof. Broggi’s long and thorough research, mainly focused on the application of computer vision in the field of intelligent vehicles, profoundly influenced the field of vehicular robotics worldwide and helped to define a number of milestones in autonomous driving internationally recognized by the scientific community. Some basic techniques for the interpretation of the vehicle surrounding environment have been developed and demonstrated in real cases: the first test in the world (2000 km on Italian motorways) in semi-automatic mode with off-theshelf and low cost components in 1998, the successful participation in the DARPA Challenges together with the most renowned research groups in the world, the first ever test of intercontinental autonomous driving (from Parma, Italy, to Shanghai, China, from July to October 2010), and finally the first test of autonomous driving in the open traffic of a urban environment in July 2013 with no one in the driver seat. Since 1998 Prof. Broggi has been ‘visiting professor' for many times at INSA in Rouen, where he participated in the research as advisor and lecturer. The title of PhD Honoris Causa, conferred by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rewards and highlights the work, career, and emphasizes the personal involvement of Prof. Broggi in applied research conducted together with the LITIS laboratory (www.litislab.eu) at INSA in Rouen. Held as part of INSA 30th anniversary celebrations with the Regional Council for Higher Education Mr. Yves Léonard and the Mayor of Rouen Mr. Yvon Robert participation, the doctorates conferment ceremony has been one of its main events.

Amicus Brief Asks U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to Lift Injunction on Expanded DACA and DAPA

In a friend-of-the-court brief filed today in the federal appeals court in Texas, AALDEF joined more than 150 groups contending that President Obama’s executive immigration actions would allow millions of immigrants to apply for relief from deportation and work authorization and would improve the nation’s economy and society. This brief was one of several in support of the Obama administration’s immigration actions, which economists predict will raise the GDP by more than $200 billion over the next 10 years.

Margaret Fung, executive director of the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), said: “As a national civil rights organization that advocates for fair immigration policies, we support the president’s immigration actions that could provide relief from deportation to almost 1.5 million undocumented Asian immigrants in this country." She said that AALDEF offers legal assistance to Asian immigrant youth who may be eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and plans to represent individuals who would have qualified for the new deferred action initiative for parents of U.S. citizens (known as DAPA) and lawful permanent residents and an expansion of DACA.

On February 17, 2015, a federal district court blocked implementation of the expansion of a federal initiative that would have allowed certain immigrants who arrived in this country as children to apply for deportation relief and work authorization (known as an expansion of DACA). The court also blocked implementation of an initiative that would have allowed certain parents of U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents to apply for deportation relief and work authorization

The groups argue that delays in implementing DAPA and expanded DACA harm the nation’s economy and prevent aspiring Americans from more fully participating in their communities. The brief features profiles of primary breadwinners, small business owners, and social justice activists who would be able to increase their economic and societal contributions if granted the relief proposed by DACA and DAPA.

Among those profiled in the brief are Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and AALDEF 2013 Justice in Action Award recipient Jose Antonio Vargas, who arrived in the U.S. at the age of 12 from the Philippines. He missed the age cutoff for the original DACA program by only a few months. Nga, the survivor of domestic abuse, is the mother of a U.S. citizen child who would have more stable employment opportunities if she were granted DAPA.

Today’s filings are the latest legal step in Texas et al. v. United States et al., the 26-state challenge to the administration’s immigration actions. On April 17, the Fifth Circuit will hear oral argument in a request for emergency stay of the lower court injunction. If granted, the emergency stay would allow the U.S. government to begin implementation of the DAPA and DACA initiatives.

影響波士頓地產界十大人物 有二名華人

(Boston Orange 周菊子波士頓報導) 波士頓商業期刊（Boston Business Journal）三月底表揚對大波士頓地產景觀變化最有貢獻的十人。其中有三名亞裔，二名華人，陳家驊，沈其樂。

                  該文指出，大波士頓的市中心，以及鄰近郊區，近年起重機林立，不論是商業或住宅大廈，整個區域一片欣欣向榮景象，吸引了數以十億元計的資金，挟著創新經濟的目標，雜沓而來。

                  這些樓宇大廈，不論是新建的，還是剛破土動工的，都正在改變大波士頓人的生活，工作，以及休閒環境。

                  在這領域中卓然有成的人，包括山姆公司（Samuels & Associates）執行董事長萊絲莉柯恩（Leslie Cohen）等，不下十人。

其中的三名亞裔，有二人是華埠社區熟知的華人，麻州住宅投資公司企業發展主任陳家驊，以及波士頓重建局計畫長沈其樂。

該文指出，陳家驊獲選為改變者之一，是因為非牟利機構的麻州住宅投資公司（MHIC）在過去廿五年來，悄悄的對麻州，大波士頓土地發展界發生了巨大影響，藉著抵稅優惠（tax-credit）即財務貸款，協助市區內資源匱乏的耆英住宅，醫療診所等等項目，得以落實。

過去這些年來，MHIC總共從124家投資機構，募得廿二億元來支持土地發展活動。陳家驊是MHIC的主要人物之一。Top of FormLes

            陳家驊在中國出生，香港長大，1970年來到波士頓，在地產界的管理及發展領域擔任過許多不同職務。1995年時，他加入MHIC，並工作迄今。

            陳家驊表示，該機構的確轉型了，融資量擴大了許多。

            沈其樂是改變者之一，原因是他身為波士頓重建局的計畫長，是波士頓市長期發展遠見的“把關者”，他以不漏掉發展計劃中的任何細節聞名。僅管人們認為他很禮貌，他卻絕對是規則和程序的堅持者，那也使得他和發展商時有意見衝突。

            沈其樂獲有麻省理工學建築碩士學位。他並不偏好功能，輕忽風格，以致有些人發牢騷指他把個人品味放上了波士頓天際線。以往，沈其樂總是能得波士頓重建局董事，尤其是波士頓前市長萬寧路（Thomas Menino）的支持。萬寧路把沈奇樂當作發展問題上的親密顧問。

            沈其樂在波士頓市府的頂頭上司，現在換了人，不但重建局局長換成Brian Golden，波士頓市長也換上了馬丁華殊（Martin Walsh）。

            山姆公園（Sam Park）公司的創辦人兼董事長Sam Park，是另一名獲選為轉變者的亞裔。

            Sam Park 在波士頓地區的地產融資，計畫及許可世界中，扮演著拜占庭式的角色。他的公司既是地產發展商，地產策略顧問，也是投資顧問，資金顧問。過去這些年來，該公司為卡夫（Robert Kraft）建吉利體育館（Gillette Stadium）做顧問，在Cabot, Cabot & Forbes於興罕（Hingham）建藍十字藍盾（Blue Cross Blue Shield）五十萬平方呎辦公室時，幫助他們處理法規事務，也協助波士頓大學做該校的新總體發展計畫。該公司還曾經參與發展華森市128號公路旁的寶麗來舊址發展。
