藥明康德進駐大波士頓 新設辦事處昨剪綵

在紐約股票市場上市值29.28億美元,人稱中國醫藥研發外包(CRO)一哥的“藥明康德(Wuxi App Tech)“,昨(廿四)日正式進駐麻州劍橋市。
         藥明康德藥物研發國際服務部高級副總裁蘇睿馳(Richard M. Soll)和中國駐紐約總領事館科技參贊葉冬柏,麻州生物科學中心執行長蘇珊班尼斯特(Susan Windham Bannister),劍橋市副市長班贊(Dennis Benzan)昨日下午在劍橋市瑪麗奧酒店舉行了象徵式的剪綵儀式,接著以一場有約三百多人參加的科學性會議,接待酒會做慶祝。
         由華人李革創辦的藥明康德,近年積極擴展,去年十月在以色列台拉維夫設辦事處,派人事主任邢紹國訪問波士頓,招聘人才,十一月就宣布藥明康德的基因中心與總部位於波士頓的未來健康碼(Next CODE Health)“合作,要利用全球唯一儲存超過三十萬人全基因組信息的集中數據庫,為中國科學家服務。十二月接著宣佈在美國舊金山,波士頓增設辦事處。
         在全球十七個國家有員工九千人的藥明康德,在美國已有聖保羅,費城,雅特蘭大,新澤西的Plainsboro,聖地牙哥等地設有辦事處,共有員工幾百人。
         蘇睿馳透露,波士頓辦事處主要做企業發展(business development)和項目管理(project management)工作,辦公室約二千八百平方呎,位於劍橋市第三街222號(222 Third Street),現有員工十二人。該公司希望波士頓辦公室能把藥明康德的一體化研發服務平台和美國創新生物企業,以及科學家們之間的距離拉近。
         劍橋市副市長班贊表示,劍橋市為藥明康德選擇進駐感到興奮,相信這有助於該市,麻州留住哈佛,MIT等優秀學校畢業的人才,幫助本地經濟成長。他希望在劍橋市開張的公司不要忘了,在辦公大樓四周有民眾社區存在,互動互助很重要。
         葉冬柏表示,中國正在朝向創新國家之路邁進,新的五年發展計畫,已把生物醫藥產業列為重點之一。藥明康德的發展令人欣慰。
         麻州生物科學中心執行長蘇珊班尼斯特(Susan Windham Bannister)指出,前任麻州州長派區克(Deval Patrick)2008年時推出十年十億元的發展生物醫藥產業承諾,要把生命科學圈變成一種經濟生態(ecosystem)。迄今他們在合作,幼稚園到十二年級科學課程,轉化研究(translational research),早期公司及創業資助,抵稅優惠等項目上投資出去五億六千五百萬元,並獲得約等於十七億元的成績。若以人均為準的就業比率來算,麻州已高居美國第一名。
         大波士頓地區的華裔生物醫藥界人士,昨日出席踴躍。與藥明康德合辦過人才招聘會的紐英崙美中醫藥開發協會(SAPANE)有會長趙南丁,候任會長梁桂清,理事孫天霄,美中生物醫藥協會(CABA)的前會長萬昭奎,戴朝陽,理事蔡希凌等人,都應邀與會。
