麻州昆士市十一月廿八日起慶祝聖誕節

2014 Christmas Parade


            麻州昆士市政府日前宣佈,今年跨入第六十二屆的三日聖誕聯歡,將從十一月廿八日開始舉行。
            象徵慶祝聖誕活動開始的點亮聖誕樹活動,今年改在湯姆斯鶴公共圖書館(40 Washington Street, Quincy, MA 02169)草坪上舉行,下午五點開始慶祝活動,包括當娜瑪莉(Donna Marie)的兒童木偶秀,穿著戲服的玩偶人物,以及昆市/北昆士合唱團演唱。表演將在草坪上有暖氣的帳篷裡舉行。六點時,昆市市長柯奇(Thomas P. Koch)將點亮從圖書館展延到昆市中心的燈泡,拉開年序入節的幕帷。
            會場當晚將提供免費爆玉米花,熱巧克力。
            十一月廿九日這天,將是聖誕老人帶著五個小精靈助手,穿著降落傘,從飛機上跳下來迎接群眾的日子。聖誕老人預定在中午十二點半時,抵達座落於昆士市瑪莉蒙公園路(Merrymount)一號的盛會場(Pageant field)。穿著戲服的玩偶人物會在現場派發棒棒糖。            
             最後是十一月三十日的年度昆士聖誕大遊行,今年的主題是“一個傳統的聖誕節”,遊行隊伍將包括一百多個來自麻州各地的高中,成人樂隊,妝點著聖誕氣氛的花車等。遊行總指揮將是昆市居民,一名空軍陸戰隊老兵Robert G. Noble,以及曾是戰俘的美國海軍老兵 John M. Gillis美國海軍老兵Francis X Bellotti 遊行將於中午十二點半開始,從昆市中心的漢能公園路(Hannon Parkway)出發,向北繞經興國街(Hancock),走到北昆士高中為止,大約在下午三點結束。

2014 Christmas Parade
For the 62nd  time the City of Quincy will hold its annual three day Christmas festivities beginning on Friday,  November 28th with the traditional tree lighting celebration to be held at a new location on the lawn of Thomas Crane Library, 40 Washington Street, Quincy, MA 02169. The activities will kick off at 5:00 pm and includes the Donna Marie Children’s Puppet show, Costumed Characters, and the combined Quincy/ North Quincy Choir. The performances will be held inside of a heated tent that will be set up on the lawn. At 6:00 PM, Mayor Thomas P. Koch will turn on the Christmas lights at the library and throughout Quincy Center to mark the beginning of our holiday season. Please join family and friends and enjoy free popcorn and hot chocolate on this very special night.
The following day, Saturday November 29th will be Santa’s Arrival by Parachute. Santa and his five elf helpers will be jumping from a plane to arrive and greet boys and girls. Santa will be arriving by plane at 12:30 PM at Pageant field. Pageant field is located at One Merrymount Parkway, Quincy, Massachusetts 02170. Costume characters will join Santa and will be handing out candy canes to those in attendance.
Wrapping up the City of Quincy Christmas celebration weekend will be the 62ndannual Quincy Christmas Parade. The chosen parade theme for this year is “An Old Fashioned Christmas”. The parade has over 100 units which include high school and adult marching bands from around the state, Christmas themed floats, and many more exciting entries.  In keeping with the parade theme, the Grand Marshall’s have been selected remembering the old fashioned values of “The Greatest Generation”.  This years Grand Marshall’s are Quincy residents, Robert G. Noble an Army Air Force veteran, and former Prisoner of War, John M. Gillis a United States Marine veteran, and Francis X Bellotti a veteran of the United States Navy. The parade will start in Quincy Center at Hannon Parkway and continue north bound through the city on Hancock Street ending at North Quincy High School.
