Beinu event guests

Keynote Speech -- Vaccines in the 21st Century
Bill Gates 说过 “A Vaccine is the only way to end Aids all time”.

State Street Bank and Trust Company 的律师。

Overview
There has been a long debate and suspicion as to when machine intelligence is going to surpass human intelligence. We have started to see AI behind personal assistance (Siri), email (Google smart GMAIL), facial recognition, and news stories written by robots. Machines are being trained to study human social behavior at a large scale. While the emergence of these machines have been beneficial to society, we must learn not to be over-reliant to the point where they surpass human intelligence.
At this NECINA technology conference, we are honored to have a group of established industry experts and thought leaders in this space to help us understand the huge opportunities and challenges in Artifical Intelligence and Machine Learning. We are glad to have TripAdvisor as our conference host, a great "unicorn" company born in MA with global vision.

E-Club Meeting on 11/06

E-Club had a meeting with Mr. Lingping Gao, the founder of NetBrain on Nov 6th at its headquarter in Burlington, MA. NetBrain is a fast growing high tech company and their proprietary product serves as the operating system of network equipment. NetBrain's customers include Cisco, AT&T, Verizon, IBM, BP, Time Warner and etc.
During the meeting, Lingping shared his startup experience and lessons with fellow E-Club members. His story on how he transformed from an engineer to a great salesman was very inspiring. He shared why a marketing driven product development is essential for a successful business and innovation is not only about technology but also business models. As his efficient sales model has become key factor for NetBrain's success, NetBrains' revolving sales model intrigued many members' interest and further discussions.
Lingping also talked about his fundraising experiences in China and US and explained how Chinese investors are different from the ones in US.  His advice for entrepreneurs who are looking for venture investments is: think hard before taking the money.

YES Meeting on 11/21

In YES class last Saturday, our invited mentors, Harry Gao, Daryl Luk, and Ben Tao, had successfully mentored nine student teams to develop and improve their products.  Each mentor devoted three hours to share his unique knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship, mentor teams individually on the problems they met during their product development, and gave constructive feedback to each team's presentation on their ideas and products.

Dr. Luk, who founded YES program ten years ago, was touched by the students' passion and spirit of courage. He shared his mentoring experience on his social media page - "students can make a question with deep thinking, clearly showing that they have thought carefully about what they have met in YES classes. Sitting in the audience and listening to their introduction on their new ideas, although sometimes some of them are out of reach, I was touched by their passion and spirit of courage."

Students enjoyed sharing their ideas and products with the mentors through the 1 on 1 mentoring the most, as they received great advice. This helped them learn how to brainstorm effectively to expand their ideas and design products.

Overview

The US economy outshines others in this gloomy global economic environment, yet 25% of the revenue of Apple and 30% for Boeing comes from the Chinese market.  President Xi just signed a $38 billion contract with Boeing in Seattle, and China CRRC will invest hundreds of millions in Massachusetts to rebuild the Boston subway. What are behind all these facts and deals?
Both China and the US continue to face challenges as they seek new opportunities in the ongoing development of their business and technology. China has been gradually transitioning from a manufacturing hub to a center for technology and consumerism. Initiatives such as Made-in-China 2025 and National Entrepreneurship have been created to ensure a smooth transition that focuses on innovation. Today, most major Chinese-owned companies have their strategic sights set globally, with a demand to acquire outside talent to execute these plans. Vast amounts of investment capital are chasing limited opportunities.

In the US, professionals and business leaders struggle with the resources and knowledge to advance their careers and businesses as they try to develop their skillsets. The questions also arise as "how entrepreneurs should chart their path?" and the appropriate way for business leaders to leverage resources such as supply chain and government policy.

YES 10.0 Summer Workshop Wrap Up

YES 10.0 Summer Workshop Wrap-up

Last Saturday, Youth Entrepreneurship Service (YES) program just successfully hosted its first ever full-day workshop at Constant Contact Innovation Lab in Waltham to teach high school and middle students how to turn an idea into a business plan in just one day. 34 students formed eight teams, started from scratch, worked on business plans within their own teams for less than two hours, and presented their pitches in front of four judges in the end. Everyone was a winner on that day, because both YES organizing team and attendees' parents were all amazed to see most students could start from barely knowing what marketing was to being able to quickly present a plan in front of experienced entrepreneurs and the rest of the audience in such a short period of time.

A conversation between YES alumni and other students took place by the end of the workshop, where students and parents got to learn more about YES program and how entrepreneurship courses offered in YES have made difference in multiple aspects of the alumni's life.

New Challenges and Opportunities in Technology and Business: China + US

Oct. 2015, Boston

There are great challenges and opportunities for continued technology and business development in China and the US.  China is gradually transferring from a manufacturing hub to a technology and consumerist technology center. Made-in-China 2025 and National Entrepreneurship have been strongly promoted. Most major Chinese companies have strategic global plans, and the demands for talents to execute the plans outside of China are on the rise.  Vast amounts of investment capital are chasing limited opportunities.  In the US, how should professionals develop their skillsets, how should entrepreneurs chart their path, and how should business leaders leverage resources such as supply chain and government policy?  The convergence of an integrated strategy between China and the US is a requirement for companies competing in the global economy. For individuals, having a clear view of the trend and getting ready mean tremendous advantages and opportunities.

NECINA China Program is a platform to connect the business between Great China and US (NE) to nourish entrepreneurship and career development. The program includes annual China Conference (150+ audience) and quarterly meetings (50+ audience).

NECINA 2015 Summer Outing Summary

NECINA 2015 Summer Outing

Hopkinton State Park

Summer is full of opportunities for us to enjoy outside activities! On July 25th, NECINA hosted an outstanding Summer Outing at Hopkinton State Park. The weather was beautiful, the food was great, but the best part was spending time and getting to know the other members! It was a wonderful sight to see our old and new members sharing stories, networking, smiling, and sharing laughs with each other.

All the participants enjoyed the delicious food consisting of a potluck lunch, snacks, and fruits. We brightened up the lively crowd with our newly NECINA member shirts. Following the President's Welcome Message and Raffle Announcement, participants had an opportunity to meet the board members and the officer teams of 2015-16. Later, members participated in several field games and park activities.

A heartfelt thank you to all who helped make this summer outing a big success! We hope you had a great time and hope to see you again next year!
