MAYOR WALSH INVITES DESIGN FIRMS TO REIMAGINE THE CITY'S WEB PRESENCE
The City of Boston Releases Request for Proposal for City Website Redesign

Boston—Mayor Martin J. Walsh today released a formal request for design services, inviting design firms to help reimagine the City of Boston's website (Boston.gov).  Each year, this site is visited by over seven million users, providing news, information, resources, and digital services to Boston residents and visitors. Users can browse its over 5,000 pages and web forms to do everything from planning a trip to Boston, to seeing the assessed value of a property, to filing a report about a pothole.

"As the digital front door for Boston, it is important that information and services on the City's website are not just available, but are easily accessible for Boston residents and visitors,” said Mayor Walsh. "The City of Boston is building highly useful tools that are designed around the needs of our constituents, and we're looking for great partners on this effort."

The ‎user-centered redesign will involve extensive user research to make information and services more accessible for the City's diverse range of users, and will employ an iterative development methodology to incorporate user feedback throughout the process. The City expects to release a beta version of the new Boston.gov late this year, introducing an architecture that is thoroughly useful and features an improved design.
