Governor Baker Nominates Douglas J. Darnbrough to the District Court

BOSTON – Governor Charlie Baker has nominated Douglas J. Darnbrough, an attorney with extensive civil and criminal law experience, to serve as a judge in the District Court.

“The attorneys and litigants in the district court will be well served by Attorney Darnbrough, who knows the law, rules of evidence, and is extremely hard working and fair,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “His work over the last twenty years on both civil and criminal cases, and most recently as an Assistant Clerk Magistrate, make him an exceptional candidate for consideration.”

“Attorney Darnbrough is a skilled trial lawyer that embodies the temperament and work ethic our Administration looks for in judicial nominees,” said Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito. “His most recent experience in the Taunton District Court will allow him to hit the ground running, if confirmed by the Governor’s Council.”

Applicants for judicial openings are reviewed by the Statewide Judicial Nominating Commission and recommended to the Governor. All judicial nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the Governor’s Council.

There are 62 District Courts throughout the Commonwealth hearing a range of criminal, civil, housing, juvenile, mental health and other case types.
