STATEMENT FROM MAYOR MICHELLE WU URGING MGB, MNA TO REACH FAIR AGREEMENT

BOSTON – Thursday, October 8, 2026 – Today, Mayor Michelle Wu released the following statement urging the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) and Mass General Brigham (MGB) to continue good faith negotiations as they return to the bargaining table:

Statement from Mayor Michelle Wu

“We are closely monitoring the ongoing labor negotiations and are encouraged that the parties are returning to the bargaining table today to try to avoid a strike.

Nurses are essential to Boston’s health care system and we depend on their skills, compassion, and tireless work to care for our loved ones and our community—a work stoppage would have serious consequences for patients, families, and our entire City.

I urge both MGB and MNA to negotiate in good faith and stay at the table until a fair deal is reached. The City of Boston stands ready to offer any and all resources needed to help bring these negotiations to a successful resolution.”
