大波士頓中華文化協會換屆 冼鳳明接任會長

大波士頓地區中華文化協會（GBCCA） 18日晚在傅萊明罕鎮喜來登酒店舉行2014馬年年會，宣佈會講廣東話的越南裔華僑冼鳳明走馬上任2014會長，現任會長黃淑英交棒，2015候任會長為周映秋 。

今年的文協年會，儘管遇上瑞雪紛飛，出席率卻特別踴躍，不但有牛頓市市長華倫（Setti Warren)到賀致詞，波士頓市有史以來的首名華裔市議員吳弭（Michelle Wu ）做主講嘉賓，駐波士頓辦事處處長洪慧珠，副處長陳銘俊，波士頓華僑文教中心主郭大文，新聞組組長朱永昌等嘉賓出席之外，連波士頓華埠的傳統僑社，都有許多人撥冗參加。其中包括至少一桌中華公所前朝幹部，以及會長冼鳳明的哥哥，在波士頓華埠經營永新燒臘的冼永強等親友。

         在新舊幹部交接之外，文協當晚安排的節目還包括會長報告，頒發傑出社區服務獎，青少年社區服務獎，聚餐，歌舞表演。

         獲傑出社區服務獎的是趙小怡，楊洲潔。

         趙小怡擔任過幼稚園主任，圖書館員，國畫班，藝文小集負責人，做了二年文協季刊主編，還經常協助波士頓第一夜，龍舟節活動。

楊洲潔則是有活動就見得到他的身影，不是搬鼓，就是供應點心，美食，修門窗暖氣。1978年移民來美的他是印尼華僑，也是新任會長冼鳳明的姐夫。

獲頒青少年社區服務獎是龔成德。他目前就讀勒星頓高中十二年級，不但擔任過扯鈴班領隊，助教，還主持文協家庭夜，參加除夕夜遊行等。

卸任會長黃淑英指出，過去一年，文協做了不少事，在大樓委員會的努力下，該會完成把暖氣系統從燃油改成瓦斯的大工程。除了文協一向辦理的許多活動之外，去年還辦了包括龍俐麗醫師，柯曼雯中醫師人等主講的四場健康講座。她也很感謝周萬欽等許多熱心會員的協助。

新任會長，能說流利法語的冼鳳明表示，接任會長這一要職，很讓人興奮，期待，文協是個非常獨特的機構，有太多人才，也溫暖得讓人覺得像家，她相信接下來的這年，新任幹部們會在去年已建立起的關係上，更加合作無間。

         當晚就任的文協2014年幹事包括：會長冼鳳明，以及姜詮、白松（Oren Robinson）、Janis Gee、李希青、王淑玲、陳式儀等人。

2015年的候任幹事有，會長周映秋，以及劉瑋珊，杜瑾瑜、李留平、史先澍等人。

         文協今年的年會由馬滌凡、談繼欣任司儀。表演節目包括文協健身腰鼓隊「鼓動歡樂」，佳韻舞集的「敦煌」，知音舞韻的「芬芳花季」，郭雅志與何濤夫婦以嗩吶、二胡演奏民樂「掛紅燈」，華心藝術學校扯鈴隊表演「飛鈴奪目」、文協合唱團演唱「明天會更好」組曲等。

亞美聯誼會辦見面會 要努力融合族裔

亞美聯誼會（AAA Boston)十八日下午在劍橋創新中心舉辦2014友好見面會，周告各界，該會已推出全新網站，企盼與更多社團結為夥伴，為融和亞美族裔，美化社區家園盡力。

第四屆亞美藝術節將辦齊派（白石）藝術展覽。 

        亞美聯誼會董事長黃野，副董事長甄雲龍當天致詞，介紹了薩福克大學羅森伯格東亞研究所主任薛龍，橋水大學助理教授李鐘玄等嘉賓，合作夥伴陣容，創會三年半來經歷的艱辛。

甄雲龍感概表示，經過三年半的苦心經營，亞美聯誼會經歷遷址，調整人事，重整架構等過程，如今聘有聽董事會指令辦事的發展部主任夏靜，徵召了十數名優秀大專生，研究生，分五個工作小組，承擔起該會的營運工作。

            他報告，該會曾經出版過亞美報，現因資源不足，暫時停辦，目前以網站論壇及消息發佈代替，將視時機重辦，並配合增加數位時代的影音視頻。

            今年，該會的工作主力將放在發展合作夥伴上。甄雲龍表示，只要各社團能求同存異的溝通，互助合作，就能夠做大事。該會正朝此目標，努力在中國，美國與人結盟，如今已有25個合作夥伴。

根據該會www.aaaboston.org網站，亞洲文化中心，齊白石之孫的齊育文工作室，美國酒店華裔協會，紐英崙余風采堂，中華書法會，南京大學同學會，廣東省華僑職業技術學校，波士頓中國文化藝術會，新星藝術學校，中國鄉土舞蹈團，種籽音樂及藝術教育中心，禪武中心，演藝沙龍，陳望菊雜技魔術團等。

開展中的項目包括與北京語言大學合作，推動“美國十萬學生留學中國”項目等。

甄雲龍表示，該會將陸續開展其他活動，希望社區各界隨時上網查看該會新建網站，內容將更新的更快。他感慨表示，該會在草創期間歷盡艱辛，如今聘雇了發展主任夏靜，徵召來包括麻省理工學院中國學生學者聯合會幹部劉佳等義工加入服務團隊，總算逐漸站穩腳步，將努力以赴，拓展服務。

            這場見面會由該會活動策劃組李雲飛，藝術團副團長梁凡擔任司儀。安排有梁凡演奏鋼琴，劉培藝爵士五重奏表演。

            亞美聯誼會董事吳皓醫師代表該會頒發感謝狀給劉佳，天使舞蹈團創辦人克可，波士頓社區電視台（Boston Neighborhood Network TV）等個人與團體。       

            當天到會的其他嘉賓包括紐英崙中華資訊網路協會會長鄭茹，南京大學校友會會長龔家驪，浙江大學校友會會長倪繼紅，演藝沙龍指揮郭天生，畫家郭天涵，國家乒乓球裁判柳賽英，128華人科技企業家協會段可等人。

CITY OF BOSTON WINTER STORM UPDATE

Snow Emergency and Parking Ban to Be Lifted at 8:00 AM This Morning

Boston Public Schools Closed Today, Wednesday, January 22 

Business as Usual at City Hall Today

Mayor Martin J. Walsh continues to closely monitor the City of Boston's response to today's winter storm event, expected to result in more than 7 inches of snow in the City. The Snow Emergency and Parking Ban for the City of Boston will be lifted at 8:00 a.m. this morning. Boston Public Schools are closed today. City Hall will be open today as a regular business day. 

National Weather Service has declared a Winter Weather Warning in effect for the City of Boston from 1:00 p.m. Tuesday through 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. A deep freeze is expected this week, emphasizing the priority of Public Works crews to get as close to the curb as possible in their snow clearing efforts overnight. 

The Mayor received updates from his team early this morning and will continue to monitor the forecast and provide updates.

During declared snow emergencies, discounted parking is available at several parking lots and garages to cars that display Boston resident parking stickers. Drivers have two hours after a ban is lifted to maintain the reduced rate. Discounted parking will be available until 10 a.m. this morning: http://www.cityofboston.gov/snow/parkingmap.asp.

ALL Boston Centers for Youth and Families community centers will be open today from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for children ages 7 and older. Adults will be asked to complete a short intake form when dropping children off. 

Public Works

• Crews have more than 300 pieces of equipment active on City streets.
• Regularly scheduled trash collection will begin at 7:00 a.m. this morning. 

Transportation

• The City is strongly encouraging commuters to use public transportation to travel into the City.
• During a Snow Emergency, parking is prohibited on all major arteries in Boston. These streets are posted with “Tow Zone No Parking During Snow Emergency” signs. A listing of major arteries and alternate parking can be found at http://www.cityofboston.gov/snow/parking/.
• On streets other than major arteries, parking within 20 feet of an intersection or further than one foot from the curb is prohibited, as this impedes access for both emergency vehicles and snow plows.

Public Safety

• Boston Police, Boston Fire, and Boston EMS will have additional staff on hand throughout the storm.
• Boston Police will be posted at major intersections this morning to assist with traffic flow.
• The City's Emergency Operations Center has been activated and staffed with all relevant City departments. 

Cold Weather Safety Reminders

• Carbon Monoxide is an odorless and tasteless gas that results from combustion and can quickly become fatal. Residents should clear snow and debris away from mufflers before starting the car and ensure that external vents are cleared of snow. If you are using a generator, make sure it is far enough away to vent air and gases away from the home. A safety video about carbon monoxide poisoning prevention is available here.
• To protect against forecasted cold temperatures, people should layer clothing and minimize outdoor activity.  Over a dozen people in Boston suffered injuries related to hypothermia during the last extreme cold weather snap. 
• The City's homeless shelters have activated emergency procedures. The City's Shelter Commission asks that any resident who sees a potential medical emergency involving a homeless person dial 9-1-1.
• Property owners are required to salt and sand sidewalks, stairs and pedestrian ramps to prevent slippery surfaces.
• Residents are encouraged to shovel out hydrants and catch basins near or abutting their property to assist our public safety agencies and protect against flooding.
• Please check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors who may need help.
• Use caution when walking near buildings that may have falling snow or ice.
• Shoveling snow can pose a serious health safety risk to persons with heart disease and senior citizens. Residents should consider seeking the assistance of a family member, a helpful neighbor or hire someone to help.

The Mayor's 24-Hour Hotline has additional staff on-hand and residents with weather-related questions or concerns, including down power lines, down trees or icy conditions, should call (617) 635-4500.

波士頓市長馬丁華殊（Martin J. Walsh）昨（21）日下午四點多宣佈，波市進入風雪緊急狀況（snow emergency），下午六點起，路邊停車禁令生效，波市公校週三（22日）停課。

這是馬丁華殊接任波士頓市長後的面對的第一場暴風雪。天氣預報估計，波市將積雪八到十吋。麻州東南部，雪魚角，以及島嶼，都將面對暴風雪狀況。

馬丁華殊表示，上任才12天，就遇上暴風雪。不過市府已有準備。

他說，下午一點時，已有四百輛卡車、剷雪車上路了。昨晚也將在全市各地部署500件剷雪設備。警察會護送波市公校校車，課餘活動都將取消。

昨日下午六點起，路邊停車禁令開始生效。

馬丁華殊勸民眾搭乘公共交通工具，提醒居民把車尾管道的雪清乾淨，檢視耆英鄰居是否安全，還要把住家附近的消防栓上的雪剷掉，好讓消防員看得見。

為了監督這場風雪，馬丁華殊取消了原定到華府的兩日行。他原本要到華府參加美國市長冬季會議，和巴爾的摩市長Stephanie Rawlings-Blake，舊金山市長李孟賢，教育部長Arne Duncan等人晤談，並出席一系列在華府舉行的會議。

不過他說，在這個時刻，波士頓市對他來說更重要。

City of Boston Prepared for Winter Storm 

Snow Emergency and Parking Ban in Effect Tonight at 6:00 p.m.

Mayor Martin J. Walsh today announced City response plans for the impending winter storm expected to bring 8 to 10 inches of snow to Boston this evening and tomorrow. The Mayor declared a Snow Emergency and Parking Ban for the City of Boston, in effect tonight, Tuesday, January 21, at 6:00 p.m. Boston Public Schools have canceled afternoon activities today, Tuesday, January 21, and schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22.

“Our team is ready for tonight’s storm and we have a good plan in place,” Mayor Walsh said. “Today I’m asking for the public’s help: please stay off the roads while our public works crews clear our streets, use public transportation whenever possible tonight and tomorrow, and look out for one another as temperatures drop this week.”

National Weather Service has declared a Winter Weather Warning in effect for the City of Boston from 1:00 p.m. Tuesdaythrough 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. Latest forecasts indicate the storm is expected to result in 8 to 10 inches of snow in Boston, with heaviest snow fall beginning this evening and continuing through tomorrow morning's commute. A deep freeze is expected this week, emphasizing the importance of Public Works crews to get as close to the curb as possible in their snow clearing overnight and into tomorrow.

The Mayor convened his team this afternoon to discuss the latest storm related information and response plans for the weekend. His team will continue to monitor the forecast and provide updates throughout the weather event.

• Crews are prepared for the snow event, and will have more than 400 pieces of equipment active on City streets by the evening commute, and more than 500 pieces of equipment active later tonight. 
• Regularly scheduled trash collection will begin at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
