波士頓馬拉松賽經濟影響力高達5億餘美元

Meet Boston 總裁兼執行長 Martha J. Sheridan 表示,波士頓馬拉松不僅是比賽,更是展示波士頓城市魅力的重要窗口,提升了城市競爭力。 B.A.A. 董事會主席 Cheri Blauwet 博士稱,賽事及其活動對經濟和地區產生積極影響,豐富了當地社區生活。美國銀行麻薩諸塞州總裁 Miceal Chamberlain 也指出,賽事在帶來經濟影響的同時,也凝聚了社區的奉獻精神。

2024 年波士頓馬拉松賽的慈善籌款活動也創新高,共為160個組織募得 4,570 萬餘美元,去年總慈善影響達 7,190 萬美元,自 1989 年以來,已籌集超 5.5 億美元。

129 屆波士頓馬拉松賽將於 2025 4 21 日舉行。

 MAYOR WU ANNOUNCES OPEN CALL FOR ROUND TWO OF UN-MONUMENT | RE-MONUMENT | DE-MONUMENT: TRANSFORMING BOSTON 


Artists and artist-led teams are encouraged to propose temporary public monuments for Boston, with applications open November 13, 2024, through January 13, 2025


BOSTON—November 13, 2024— Today, Mayor Michelle Wu and the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture (MOAC) announced an open call for artists and artist-led teams to submit proposals for round two of Un-monument | Re-monument | De-monument: Transforming Boston. This initiative, intended to generate conversation and reflection about who and what we memorialize, offers artists grants of up to $100,000 to propose and realize temporary public monuments and related programming. Applications are open from November 13, 2024, through  January 13, 2025, with the next cohort of recipients to be announced in early 2025.


This new initiative is supported by a $3 million grant from the Mellon Foundation’s Monuments Project, a national initiative that aims to transform the country’s commemorative landscape to ensure collective histories are more completely and accurately represented. This program represents the largest investment into public art programming in Boston, one of nine in the U.S. cities to receive a grant, along with Asheville, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; Columbus, Ohio; Denver, Colorado; Los Angeles, California; Portland, Oregon; Providence, Rhode Island; and San Francisco, California. 


“Boston has been at the forefront of the national conversation about how to tell our stories through monuments,” said Mayor Michelle Wu. “We’re thrilled to build upon the first round of Un-Monument and offer another opportunity for artists and local arts organizations to continue to experiment with new ideas, revisit old traditions, and imagine ways to expand and diversify our cultural approach to memory, monuments, and storytelling.


The open call for round two of Un-Monument offers two distinct opportunities for artists. The first opportunity is an invitation for temporary monument proposals, in which artists from across the country are encouraged to propose a temporary monument to be installed in any neighborhood throughout the City of Boston. Ideas centering on lesser-known histories are encouraged, as well as projects that engage in mediums that differ from traditional sculptural practices or respond and interact with existing monuments. 


The second opportunity is a New Media workshop focused on Projection Mapping, hosted by Emerson Contemporary, which follows the Augmented Reality (AR) workshop that was available to artists in round one. New Media offers a unique opportunity to engage with existing monuments in innovative ways without requiring permanent alterations. However, the specialized equipment and high technical costs often make it a challenging medium for artists to pursue. In an effort to help artists develop future proposals, this funded workshop will equip them with the skills and technology needed to translate previous works or create new ones using Projection Mapping techniques.


Beyond the current open call opportunities, the program adopts a multifaceted approach to the discourse on monuments which includes cultural partnerships, educational engagement, and public conversations. To ensure that multiple curatorial voices and perspectives are included in this process, MOAC will continue to collaborate with curatorial partners across the City who have been deeply engaged in this work for years, including Emerson Contemporary, The National Center for Afro-American Artists, The North American Indian Center of Boston, The Boston Public Art Triennial, and Pao Arts Center. The Massachusetts College of Art and Design is also collaborating with MOAC to develop educational materials, including interpretation at artwork sites and online, while PRX is partnering to capture audio content at public talks and events.


In this grant cycle, MOAC will further broaden Un-Monument’s impact through a partnership with The Boston Art Review (BAR), providing resources and opportunities for writers to research, write, and publish works about the projects and ideas that are being developed through the Un-Monument initiative. MOAC and BAR consider writers as an essential part of our creative field who can investigate, celebrate, and document discourse about monuments through alternative mediums.


The first round of Un-Monument in 2024 awarded grants for more than 30 projects which will continue to be realized through 2025 as Boston and the nation prepare for the 250th anniversary of the nation. In the summer and fall of 2024, MOAC hosted a series of public conversations curated by The Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University. Taking place at The Embrace, the series explored conversations around democracy and justice and featured preeminent speakers such as MacArthur ‘Genius’ Imani Perry, Professor Joshua Bennett, and Professor Kerri Greenidge, among others. The public conversation series will continue through the summer of 2025.

麻州長Healey 舉辦首屆青年顧問委員高峰會

              (Boston Orange 編譯) 麻州州長奚莉 (Maura Healey) 13日在州政府大樓舉行首屆青年顧問委員會高峰會,邀青年領袖參與委員會成員提議,應優先處理的關鍵議題,包括教育、精神健康、青年暴力,以及醫療健保等。奚莉州長計畫今後每年舉辦這高峰會。            

               麻州青年顧問委員會從今年3月經由行政命令成立後,舉辦過3次虛擬聆聽會議,就青年顧問們所關心的議題,以及奚莉-Driscoll政府可以如何支持他們的需求等,收集了數以百計的調查意見。高峰會邀請來自麻州各地年輕人分享他們的看法。

               青年顧問委員會由來自不同地區、族裔及性別,包括同性戀社群,講14種不同語言的60人組成,為麻州州長奚莉,副州長Kim Driscoll,以及整個麻州政府就重要議題會對麻州有何影響,提供意見。這些青年委員每人任期2年。

黃偉健當選為全美黃氏美東副總長

 
              (Boston Orange ) 全美黃氏宗親會第28屆懇親大會1110日在洛杉磯一連舉行2日,有來自波士頓、緬城、西雅圖、芝加哥、鳳凰城等多地的分會代表參加。波士頓黃氏宗親會主席黃偉健當選為美東副總長。

               大會選舉結果,美西的總長由羅省黃惠聰連任,副總長由三藩市黃若瑜當選。美東總長由芝加哥的黃耀明當選,副總長為波士頓的黃偉健。

               波士頓黃氏今年有元老黃國威、主席黃偉健,議長黃國麟,婦女部主任黃周麗桃,以及黃紹培等人遠赴加州參會。

杜武亮捐款逾千萬元 塔芙茨科學工程大樓將冠名杜聰明

              (Boston Orange 綜合編譯) 塔芙茨大學13 (週三) 公佈,該校數學系教授杜武亮 (Loring Tu) 豪捐逾千萬元,塔芙茨科學及工程大樓將改名杜聰明大樓 (Tsungming Tu Complex),藉以紀念其祖父,有台灣醫學之父美譽,創辦了高雄醫學院的杜聰明。

               杜武亮 (Loring Tu)教授13歲從台灣移民來美,經由財務援助,入讀McGill,其後陸續在普林斯頓大學深造,取得哈佛大學博士學位。1986年的38年前進塔芙茨大學教數學迄今,撰寫和與人合著了共4本在幾何學和拓樸學上很有影響的書。他預定2025年退休。

Loring Tu)表示,他深受祖父影響,傳承了祖父的生活簡單,關心需要幫助的人這價值觀,他29歲時,杜聰明送給他2幅上書「淡薄明志」、「寧靜致遠」的親筆書法,也是形塑他一生簡單,需求不多這生活態度的緣由。至於他的財富,多半來自股票投資,包括1997年時才15分一股的蘋果,當年的1000元投資,來到今日就價值100萬元了。

               以前,杜武亮 (Loring Tu)也曾捐款給塔大,設立了杜聰明獎學金,最近也捐款命名2棟學校住宅,以紀念他的2位在學術界卓有成就兄弟。這次塔大募款人員找他時,他想到自己即將退休,塔芙茨大學需要更多捐款來為學生提供更多財務援助,於是決定一捐就8位數,既紀念其祖父,也希望藉以使得更多美國人知道他祖父曾有的成就。

              杜武亮 ( Loring Tu) 說,38年來,塔大有如他的家,選擇捐款給塔大,可說是聊表回饋,沒有捐給他的母校,普林斯頓大學或哈佛大學,還因為捐給塔大,發揮的影響衝擊會更大些。

               塔大因此將把2017年翻修建成的科學工程大樓,改名為杜聰明大樓,藉以表揚串辦了台灣第一所私立醫學院 (現在的高雄醫學大學),以及第一所治療鴉片上癮診所的杜聰明。 (更新版)

麻州長Healey感謝消防員 籲請州民協助防火

 Governor Healey Thanks Firefighters, Asks Public to Do Their Part to Contain Fire Risk 

MIDDLETON – Governor Maura Healey visited the Middleton Fire Department today to thank firefighters and first responders who have been working to contain brush fires in the area and across the state over the past few weeks. More than 450 fires have burned over 1,500 acres since October 1 in Massachusetts, including two ongoing fires in Middleton, and air quality continues to be affected in many communities. 

Multiple fires remain active and have proved difficult to contain due to extremely low rainfall in the region over the last two months. The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) has declared drought conditions affecting nearly the entire state. The National Weather Service under guidance from the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has issued a red flag warning for all of Massachusetts due to this critical fire weather pattern. Groundwater levels in many regions are declining, which means that the lakes and ponds that firefighters use to fight many of these fires are providing less water to work with, underscoring the need to conserve.  

“Massachusetts is experiencing a historic drought, which is resulting in brush fires across the state. I’m grateful to the firefighters and first responders who have been working hard, day in and day out, to keep their communities safe. We appreciate the immense effort and sacrifice they are putting in, and the risks they are facing," said Governor Healey. “Drought conditions and wildfire risks are ongoing. There are steps everyone can take to minimize risk, protect their communities, conserve water and support our firefighters. Residents, businesses and facilities should minimize their water use as much as possible, and there should be no outdoor fires at this time. Our firefighters are working hard and making considerable sacrifices to battle these fires on our behalf. Let’s do all we can to avoid making their jobs any harder.” 

“Everyone has a role to play in keeping our communities safe during these challenging circumstances,” said Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. “The best way that we can thank the first responders who are battling these fires is to do our part not to contribute to them. That means no fire pits, outdoor grilling or anything that could send sparks into the air. We’re going to get through this, together, and the state is here to be a partner and provide additional support.” 

The Healey-Driscoll Administration has been providing emergency services, coordination assistance, and resources through the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), Department of Fire Services (DFS), the State Police, the National Guard, Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), Department of Public Health (DPH), and the Department of Transportation (MassDOT).   

The Department of Fire Services is supporting local fire departments with rehab units for firefighter health and safety; Incident Support Units that offer communications, conferencing, and mapping capabilities in the field; drones and pilots to provide incident commanders with traditional and thermal imagery from the air and assist in resource deployment; and off-road vehicles to move personnel in remote areas. DFS has also provided local fire chiefs with Fire Code citations to support local outdoor fire bans and associated public education messaging. The Statewide Fire Mobilization Plan is coordinating delivery of firefighters and apparatus from across the state so that local departments and mutual aid aren’t overwhelmed by large-scale, long-term incidents. 

 

MEMA is working daily with DFS, DCR, MA National Guard, and the Executive Office of Public Safety on state agency coordination, to ensure support of communities battling wildfires, including water drop missions. MEMA’s dispatchers have processed 16 mobilization requests of the State Fire and EMS Mobilization Plan, to augment mutual aid in impacted areas when requested. MEMA’s Mobile Emergency Operations Center has been deployed as the unified command post in Middleton since October 28th and the agency’s Local Coordinators have provided on-scene support in multiple communities and continue to assist with logistics and other coordination needs as they arise in cities and towns across the state. 

 

DCR’s Bureau of Forest Fire Control is assisting local fire departments across the state with response, tactical, strategic planning. managing and monitoring of all active wildfires. DCR wildland firefighters and fire control staff are providing fire detection support and mapping from DCR Fire Towers and supporting on the ground firefighting. DCR is also collaborating with neighboring state fire managers and Region 9 U.S. Forest Service staff on fire advisory, available resources and situational awareness. DCR has requested assistance in fighting the state’s ongoing wildfires through the Northeast Compact, and as a result, firefighters from New Hampshire and Maine have responded to provide assistance. DCR has also issued a temporary ban of all open flame and charcoal fires within state park properties.  

 

"We owe our deepest gratitude to the many brave firefighters and first responders who are confronting challenging conditions to protect our communities from the dangers of wildfire," said Public Safety and Security Secretary Terrence Reidy. "As they work to safeguard our people, property and natural resources, we ask every resident to join in by doing all we can to prevent new fire risks. By taking simple precautions, we can make a meaningful difference to support those who are on the front lines." 

“The alarming increase in wildfire activity is precisely why the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and agencies like DFS, DCR, and MEMA have all issued strong recommendations for the public and industry to avoid any outdoor activities involving fire or anything that could create sparks. But despite these warnings, we continue to see fires started by human activity—including campfires, backyard fires, and equipment that produces sparks,” said MEMA Director Dawn Brantley. “While not every fire this season is due to the result of people’s decisions, many are – so you can help protect your family, your home, your community, and the responders on the front lines.” 

“In a drought, every small action counts. Clearing dry plants, following fire safety rules, and using water wisely can help protect our homes and the environment,” said Energy & Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper. “These simple changes not only safeguard your home but also conserve valuable resources for the entire community.” 

 

“Our DCR firefighters and Fire Control staff are working around the clock to help our local communities detect, respond to and effectively manage these record wildfires that are burning around our state,” said DCR Commissioner Brian Arrigo. “We are committed to doing everything we can to protect the safety of our residents and our forests from these wildfires. We want to remind families and residents visiting our parks and campgrounds that we have a temporary ban on all open flame and charcoal fires across the state park system.” 

 

“We continue to be at a high risk for wildfires, with the dry weather providing ample fuel for fires to spread quickly across Massachusetts,” said DCR Chief Fire Warden Dave Celino. “As firefighters, we are working tirelessly to contain these incidents, but we need the public’s cooperation in helping reduce risks. We are cautioning residents to remain vigilant and to remember that even small sparks can ignite a larger fire in these dry conditions. Please do your part to conserve water, so our firefighters have the resources they need to continue fighting these blazes and protecting our communities and natural resources.” 

 

“The Massachusetts National Guard has been committed to the safety and security of the residents of the commonwealth for nearly four centuries,” said Maj. Gen. Gary W. Keefe, The Adjutant General, Massachusetts National Guard. “The soldiers who conducted the firefighting missions personify the modern citizen-soldier. Earlier this year they were performing their wartime mission in the middle east, flying transportation and MEDEVAC missions, and in the past few weeks they have demonstrated their invaluable domestic capabilities by responding to recent wildfires across the state. ‘Always Ready, Aways There’ isn’t just a motto to us it is a solemn pledge that whenever our state or nation needs us, we will be there to lend a hand.” 

 

"The duration and intensity of these fires, driven by drought and wind conditions, has presented a major challenge for the first responders that have had to confront them across many locations for extended periods of time. They have met that challenge with extraordinary interagency collaboration, resourcefulness and teamwork.  The capabilities of the DCR Bureau of Forest Fire Control and the Massachusetts State Police Drone Unit have been instrumental in this effort,” said Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr (R-Gloucester). “While these professionals are working for long hours day after day, there is a role for all of us to play as well. Being alert to the dangerous conditions that persist, and simply avoiding actions that can trigger additional fires are powerful things that all of us can do to support their extraordinary efforts.” 

 

“The wildfires that have been spreading across Massachusetts require an all hands on deck response to contain the damage and protect against the loss of life and property,” said House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading). “My thanks to the Middleton Fire Department and all of the first responders throughout the state, including the National Guard, who have been working around the clock to contain and extinguish these fires. As we continue to experience severe drought conditions, I join in urging the residents of the Commonwealth to remain vigilant and to do their part by avoiding any activities that might contribute to the spread of these brush fires so we can put this danger behind us.” 

 

“The ongoing effort to successfully manage this fire across 170 acres is a phenomenal display of mutual aid and collaboration among Chief LeColst and the Middleton Fire Department and several state agencies,” said State Representative Sally Kerans (D-Danvers). 

“Together, Middleton and the Commonwealth have prevented these fires from reaching homes and structures, and we are grateful and committed to continuing the necessary funding for the personnel and tools the effort demands.” 

 

"Middleton is proud of our first responders who are fighting back threats in our own back yards. Municipalities do not have the resources needed to grapple with the unfortunate realities of climate change. It is critical that we work together to establish a proactive approach to these new challenges,” said Middleton Town Administrator Justin Sultzbach. “We appreciate the support of our surrounding communities, as well as our partners on Beacon Hill who have stood beside us during this difficult time."   

 

“For the past 17 days, members of the Middleton Fire Department have been working alongside over 60 fire departments from across the state to contain and extinguish over 240 acres of wildland fires. The Department would like to thank state and local agencies who have assisted us during these unprecedented times,” said Middleton Fire Chief Doug LeColst. “Unfortunately, events like this are becoming too common and it is important that residents follow the advice and warnings set forth by public safety officials during this historic drought.” 

 

About 45 percent of Massachusetts homes are in or near areas at severe wildfire risk, meaning that any significant fire will put people and property in danger. Because any outdoor fire will spread quickly and become very difficult to control, local and state officials are asking residents to follow these fire prevention tips: 

 

  • Remember that burning yard waste is prohibited statewide from May 1 to January 15 and prohibited year-round in some communities. 
  • Refrain from any outdoor cooking and heating activity, including those that involve fire pits, solo stoves, chimineas, etc. Many cities and towns have implemented temporary restrictions on any outdoor fires. 
  • Use extra caution with lawn tractors, leaf blowers, all-terrain vehicles, and other power equipment. Sparks, hot engines, and spilled gasoline can ignite dead leaves, dry grass, and other combustibles. 
  • Dispose of ashes from fireplaces and wood stoves in a metal can, douse them with water, and cover them with a tight-fitting lid. These ashes can remain hot enough to ignite combustibles long after the fire goes out: never dump them outdoors or in the trash. 
  • Fully extinguish all smoking materials in a heavy ashtray with water or sand. Never discard cigarette butts, matches, or other materials over a porch railing, out a car window, or into dry vegetation.

               (Boston Orange) 波士頓台灣人生物科技協會 (BTBA) 1110日在哈佛大學Lehman Hall迎新,90多人歡聚一堂,交流熱絡。不少剛搬到波士頓還不滿一年的學生或專業人士,見到那麼多背景、年齡相似夥伴,尤其感到開心。

                 迎新這天,BTBA特地邀請麻省總醫院 (MGH)講師林致中博士和Verve Therapeutics科學家許書瑀博士,在協會領袖培養組 (LEAP)長孫韵晰主持中分享在美國的各種學術及工作場合如何踏出第一步,拓展專業人脈的社交技能,包括如何使用聯想或諧音梗來介紹自己的姓名,藉以讓人對自己留下更深印象;在職場藉咖啡時間和同事交談,建立友誼,增加獲取公司內部資訊渠道;學會經由BTBA獲得有效人脈,來幫助自己在學界、業界求職的成功率,同時豐富自己的業餘生活。

台大校長陳文章訪波士頓晤校友談百歲百年基金

           (Boston Orange ) 台灣大學校長陳文章與校友總會理事長郭敏能日前率團來訪波士頓,和台大校友會校友等共60多人歡聚,報告校本部發展近況,說明台大正在籌募「百歲百年基金」,盼與世界各地校友合作,攜手把台大發展成世界級大學。

今年二度獲選為國家講座主持人的台大校長陳文章告訴波士頓校友,台大將於2028年慶祝建校100週年,從今年起的連續5年,將分「學術領航」,「產經發展」、「社會貢獻」等3個類別,遴選100

件對世界或台灣有重大貢獻,影響深遠事蹟,還要成立「百歲百億基金」,用於擴充校園設施,留攬各界人才,建造百歲紀念館。

台大計畫募集100位願意捐款1000萬元台幣者,1000名以上社會人士各捐款100萬元以上,擔任台大的百歲推手。

台大校長陳文章和校友總會理事長郭敏能,校友中心執行長劉寧,以及10多名校友組成的訪問團,此行來美主要是參加紐約台大校友會年會,順道探訪波士頓,與校友互動,探訪與台大合辦「哈佛台北書院」的哈佛大學。他很關心地探問校友們近況,強調要和海外各地校友加強互動與合作。,

創辦人李楓真等,就連波士頓經文處科技組組長蔡孟勳也不但是台大人,還原本是台大教授,由國科會借調來到波士頓,彰顯出台大人在大波士頓地區的人才濟濟。

MAYOR WU LAUNCHES “YOUTH SPEAKS BOSTON,” A YOUTH NEEDS ASSESSMENT SURVEY

BOSTON - Tuesday, November 12, 2024 - Today, Mayor Wu and the Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement (OYEA) announced the launch of Youth Speaks Boston, the first ever, citywide youth needs assessment focused on identifying gaps in resources or programming for individuals ages 14 to 25 during after school and after work hours. Today’s announcement marks the launch of the first phase of the assessment, an anonymous, online survey that is designed to gather valuable insights in to the needs and priorities of Boston's young residents. This will be followed by a second phase in early 2025 that will include structured, peer-led focus groups on topics that need further evaluation. Through Youth Speaks Boston, the City is reaffirming its commitment to understanding and responding to the voices of Boston's youth, with the goal of shaping future policies, programs, and resources for them.


“As we design the best supports for our kids, we want to hear directly from our city’s youth on what matters to them and where we could be doing better in providing services,” said Mayor Michelle Wu. “By working with BPHC and some of Boston’s leading youth health organizations, we’re looking to identify how to best connect youth with opportunities after school that set them up for success.”


In a groundbreaking collaboration, OYEA partnered with Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC), and CHANGE Lab at Northeastern University to develop this comprehensive survey. This survey is the first citywide youth needs assessment to align efforts across these major organizations, ensuring a unified, intentional approach to gathering and sharing ideas from young people across Boston’s neighborhoods. By working together, the group aims to create a comprehensive picture of youth needs, empowering Boston to address challenges and enhance support for the next generation. 

 

The Youth Speaks Boston survey is open for responses now through January. The information collected will be used to develop a clearer picture of what young people in Boston are experiencing and what support they feel is most important during afterschool and evening hours. Questions will cover topics such as community and belonging, mental health and support, community events, programming, and transportation. The goal is to create a roadmap that will guide city investments and community partnerships to support youth programming, safety, health, and well-being.


"By partnering with Boston Children's Hospital, the Boston Public Health Commission, and the CHANGE Lab, we are combining expertise in youth development, community health, and community engagement," said Pedro Cruz, Executive Director of the Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement. "This data will provide a foundation for impactful changes that benefit Boston’s young people."


“I am grateful to Executive Director Cruz, the team at OYEA, and our partners for centering youth voices in our city’s approach to planning and resource allocation,” said José F. Massó, Chief of Human Services. “The feedback we gather through this process will feed directly into decisions about funding, program development and policy change.” 


Youth Speaks Boston is available online survey in multiple languages to ensure accessibility for all of Boston’s diverse communities. Young people can access the survey through boston.gov/youthspeaks or through a QR code on promotional materials at libraries, BCYF centers, and other municipal buildings. Once the survey closes in January 2025, a thorough analysis will be conducted in collaboration with the City’s research partners. In February 2025, members of the Mayor's Youth Council will use preliminary findings to structure peer-to-peer focus groups for qualitative data collection across the City. A detailed report outlining key findings and recommendations will be shared publicly in early 2025, along with plans for actionable next steps.


“Boston Children’s is pleased to support the Mayor’s Office in conducting the Youth Needs Assessment Survey,” said Shari Nethersole, MD, Boston Children’s Vice President for Community Health and Engagement. “This survey will allow us to gather in-depth information about the city’s youth and what is most important in their lives. We look forward to reviewing the results which will inform and lead to more innovative, effective programming for youth and families.”

Our wide-reaching coalition of partners are working together to shine a light on youth whose voices are often overlooked. By working collaboratively, we are amplifying each other’s efforts and filling critical knowledge gaps in order to gain a more inclusive and accurate understanding of what youth in our city need to thrive. ”


Input from the Youth Speaks Boston survey will also be used for public health planning to improve health outcomes among youth and young adults. The Boston Community Health Collaborative, which is facilitated by the Boston Public Health Commission and convenes City departments, public health groups, healthcare institutions, community based organizations, and Boston residents, will use the findings in alignment with the citywide Boston 2024 Community Health Assessment Survey, which is also accepting responses from Boston residents ages 14 and up.


"It’s important for all Boston residents to fill out these surveys to ensure your voice is heard and included in shaping the health of Boston,” said Dr. Bisola Ojikutu, Commissioner of Public Health for the City of Boston. “This is how public health and healthcare institutions in Boston understand your needs and determine health goals and funding to create a healthier Boston for all.” 


The City of Boston asks community partners and leaders to share this opportunity broadly to ensure all young people’s voices are heard through this initiative. 麻州聘用國家衛隊成員企業可享有2000元抵稅優惠

                  (Boston Orange 編譯) 麻州政府在退伍軍人節的1111日這天宣佈,凡員工人數100以下公司若聘用現役國家衛隊成員,可享有2000元的抵稅優惠。麻州企業發展辦公室 (MOBD)即日起受理2024年的申請案。

                這一舉措,由麻州經濟發展廳 (EOED)和稅務廳承辦,旨在增加國家衛隊成員改善經濟的機會,並鼓勵企業聘用並留任國家衛隊成員。今後從2025年的11日起,滾動式的每年接受申請。

             麻州政府最近才宣布擴大「聘用退伍軍人抵稅優惠」,發放2500元抵稅優惠來獎勵聘用符合資格退伍軍人的小企業,還推出了「退伍軍人公平儀表板 (Veterans’ Equity Dashboard)」,提供麻州勞力市場中和退伍軍人相關的中央化,互動數據。

             麻州州長奚莉 (Maura Healey)、副州長Kim Driscoll,經濟發展廳廳長郝伊平 (Yvonne Hao),退伍軍人事務廳廳長Jon Santiago,公安廳廳長Terrence Reidy等人都表示這做法既支持軍人就業,也幫助企業創造經濟發展機會,提升麻州在支持軍人上的全美領導地位,一舉數得。
