杜瑋醫師與蘭亭雅聚談書法研習

波士頓地區書法愛好者組成的的“蘭亭雅聚”，日前在傅萊明罕公共圖書館，請杜瑋分享研習心得。廿多名出席者都非常欣賞杜瑋的書畫一體，從章法佈局上創新的做法。

研討活動由攝影高手楊波主持。他指出，杜瑋不但是良醫，潛心於書畫藝術創作上的成就及經歷，也令人佩服。他也坦言自己父親生病時，曾向杜瑋請教，並獲得寶貴建議，也在那些時候，對杜瑋在書畫上的沈浸之深，有了更多瞭解，早就想邀他到蘭亭雅聚開講，分享心得。

杜瑋當天謙虛的以”一個業餘書法愛好者的問題”為題，分享自己多年的學書法心得，包括書法美在哪裡? 面對書法作品, 你欣賞標準是什麼? 如何提高書法作品的表現力?

      杜瑋表示，自己很小就開始學書法，還有機會臨摹古代書帖，文革結束恢復高考時，他考入醫學院，就此成為醫生，但業餘時間卻從未間斷對書畫藝術的追求。

他談到學書法的標準問題，認為臨帖固然是基本入門途徑之一，但從藝術角度看，卻有無法超越古人之虞，要創新，並無可循門路。他自己在研習書法時，感到古人學書法，首重筆法，再談章法。

他從章法佈局上嚐試創新，也向中國畫，西洋畫藝術借鑒，打破書法橫豎成行的傳統，從整體佈局上來創作書法。

杜瑋分享的創作案例，讓與會者耳目一新， 討論非常熱烈。

當天出席會議者，包括多名曾先後在蘭亭雅聚做過專題演講者，包括傅明輝，齊雅明，楊波，周九卿，宋向陽，段俊等人。他們既各抒己見，也都讚賞，肯定杜瑋在藝術創新上的探索，追求。

      講談結束後，杜瑋即席揮毫。

出席者中的孫華航表示，他很喜歡杜瑋的用書畫一體，表現詩詞中意境的做法，寫出來的字，都給人音符旋律感覺。

            近年負責統籌蘭亭雅聚的孫志勝表示，該組織將與波士頓華人攝影協會合作，舉辦羊年夏季書畫攝影藝術展覽，時間訂在8月1日 到 30 日。

8月1日（週六）下午兩點半至四點半，在傅萊明罕鎮公共圖書館（Framingham Public Library，49 Lexington Street，Framingham, MA 01702），將由楊波主講“攝影的樂趣，層次和追求”。

Mayor Gary Christenson is reaching out to Malden residents in an effort to fill a vacancy on the Mystic Valley Development Commission.

The six-member Mystic Valley Development Commission (“Commission”) oversees the River’s Edge Project (formerly Telecom City) and its designated developers. River's Edge is a residential and commercial development project along the banks of the Malden River and includes portions of Malden, Medford and Everett. The Commission is comprised of the Mayor of each of the three communities as well as a citizen representative from each city. The current opening is due to the Malden member having recently moved from the City.

The Mayor is the appointing authority and the term is open, which means that members serve until a successor is appointed. The Commission does not meet on a regular schedule, but as development opportunities and issues arise. Typically, meetings are during the morning hours.

60% of available entries will be filled through random selection process beginning on July 15.

BOSTON – The 15th annual B.A.A. Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 11, beginning and ending at Boston’s iconic Franklin Park. Having long been New England’s most prestigious half marathon, the B.A.A. Half Marathon has showcased some of the world’s best runners, including Boston Marathon winners and World Championships gold medalists. This year, the race will feature a field size of 8,500 participants, with registration beginning on Wednesday, July 15, at www.baa.org.

Similar to 2014, there will be a random selection component to the registration process for the race when entries are accepted next week.

There are 2,640 runners currently pre-registered though the B.A.A. Distance Medley (B.A.A. 5K, B.A.A. 10K, and B.A.A. Half Marathon) registration, which was held in January. Up to 700 runners will comprise the Dana-Farber Fundraising Team, and each of those team members will raise at least $750 for the Jimmy Fund. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund have been the event's presenting sponsor since 2003. Once the elite field and other invitational entries are filled, this will leave approximately 5,000 entries available through online registration on July 15.

Registration will open on Wednesday, July 15, at 10:00 a.m. ET, and 2,000 entrants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The remaining 3,000 spots will be filled through random selection of those applicants who submit an entry by Thursday, July 16, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

•             Entry for the B.A.A. Half Marathon will be held entirely online at www.baa.org, and the entry fee is $75 USD.

•             No additional fee will be imposed for an entry submission into the random selection.

•             Participants in the B.A.A. Half Marathon must be at least 14-years old on race day.

•             Every submission has an equal chance of being selected, and the odds of being selected will be based on the total number of submissions received.

•             Only one submission per person will be accepted.

•             Entry in the B.A.A. Half Marathon cannot be transferred, refunded, or deferred.

•             Runners can secure an entry into the race by joining Dana-Farber’s fundraising team via www.rundanafarber.org.

•             Those who are accepted through random selection and those not accepted will receive notification from the B.A.A. on Friday, July 17 via email.

•             If you are not chosen in the random selection, you will not be charged the entry fee.

波士頓華埠公園紅門上站白羊

波士頓綠路（Greenway）保護會近年推動的公共藝術（Public Art）活動，日前延伸進波士頓華埠公園，在象徵華埠入口的紅門上，裝了8隻白羊。

            這些白羊是在韓國出生的藝術家Kyu Seok Oh的作品“流浪羊（Wandering Sheep）”，也是波士頓綠路上的第三個大型裝置藝術作品。

            另外兩個是Janet Echelman的長毛象（mammoth）空中雕塑，以及Shinique Smith在杜威（Dewey）廣場上的公園壁畫“七月結（Seven Moon Junction）“。

            Kyu Seok Oh善於把手工製紙張做成各種日常生活可見的各種物品，藉以反映不可預測性，以及人類生命中的平衡。

            在紅門前左下方的藝術家聲明中，Kyu Seok Oh透露自己四歲時隨家人從韓國到日本，當了非法移民。她在日本作為少數民族，爭扎著要奠定身份，追尋生命歸屬的經歷，都反映在她創作的藝術品中。

            她藉“流浪羊”這作品，反映從舒適到隔絕的人類經驗，以及人們是怎樣的在共享空間中居住。對綠路上的華埠公園來說，這些羊還以一種趣致方式，和傳統的中國文化，現代建築在同一地點並存，來反映了市區環境的改變。

            根據該一聲明，Kyu Seok Oh這“流浪羊”創作的經費，由弧度（Radian）大廈提供。

            不少經過華埠公園紅門的遊客，都會望幾眼這些在紅門襯托中，頗為顯眼的白色“流浪羊”。有路人看了聲明後感嘆，在華埠公園裏裝置在日本長大的韓裔藝術家作品，是在強調亞裔包含許多族裔，還是要減少華裔的獨特性。

            根據綠路保護會資料，8月21日，Shinique Smith將表演“手勢三：一大轉（Gesture III: One Great Turning）“，並邀布朗大學建築及藝術史助理教授Courtney J. Martin討論他那帶有占星術，煉丹學，神話意味的壁畫。

張瑪麗（Mary Truong）接掌麻州難民移民辦公室主任

(Boston Orange 周菊子波士頓報導) 麻州難民及移民辦公室（ORI）主任換人了。與華埠社區熟稔的張瑪麗（Mary Truong），已於6月中上任。

            麻州難民及移民辦公室是麻州健康及人民服務辦公室麾下的一個機構，主要功能是在經濟，社會及公民生活上幫助難民，移民，讓他們能順利的自給自足。

該辦公室也支援社區組織，為低收入難民或移民提供入籍成為公民的援助。

            2009年時，該辦公室根據之前一年頒佈的行政命令。宣佈成立“新美國人議程（New Americans Agenda）“的跨部會工作小組，推動協助難民，移民在經濟及日常生活上融入美國主流社會。

            張瑪麗在40年前隨同父親及8名兄弟姊妹，從越南移民來美。她表示，父親教她，要抬起頭來，堅強，自給自足，幫助那些有需要的人。她希望借助自己學得的經驗，教訓，幫助所有不同文化背景的人，在麻州安居樂業，都成為對社會有貢獻的美國人。

            張瑪麗經驗豐富，曾任社區健康中心“小點屋健康（Dot House Health）“的病患關係主任，Carney醫院社區福利主任，美國銀行波士頓分行企業社區發展副總裁等職務。她也是波士頓人權局委員，與人合作創辦了越美婦女聯盟。

麻州難民及移民辦公室曾經有過亞裔主管，包括擔任首長的Vivian Lee，范文南（Nam Pham），以及擔任副首長的黃鷹立。

根據麻州政府網站上，范文南上任麻州企業發展廳助理廳長（Assistant Secretary of Business Development）一直的個人介紹，范文南曾於1994年到2000年間，擔任麻州難民及移民辦公室首長。當年他的職稱是署長（Commissioner），時隔15年後，該一職位改稱為主任（Executive Director）。

由於張瑪麗是范文南的妻子，張瑪麗的上任，締造了一段夫妻先後同職的佳話。

            麻州難民及移民辦公室目前正在徵求“新美國人整合項目（New American Integration Program）“的美國企業（AmeriCorps）“志工。

"波士頓創造“ 7/16 進華埠聽意見

(本報實習記者戴斯夢波士頓報導)波士頓市為以文化創意，推動族裔包容，刻正以“波士頓創造（Boston Creates）“為主題，深入社區，徵求民意，預定七月十六日（週四）晚六點，在信義大廈社區室，聆聽華埠民眾意見。

波士頓市府文化藝術長茱利伯洛斯（Julie Burros）六月時還特地舉行了一場族裔記者座談會，說明波市府將在一年之內，深入全市各個社區，就市府應該以什麼方式來展現不同社區，族裔的文化特色等徵詢民眾意見，並將鼓勵移民社區也積極參與。

波市府把波士頓分成16各社區，從500多報名為“波士頓創造”徵集意見者中，根據他們在社區的活躍程度，對文化藝術是否感興趣等標準，挑選33名社區代表。

獲選為華埠地區小組代表的有三人，包括在政治圈活躍的李超榮（Leverett Wing），紐英崙華人歷史協會行政主任暨波士頓亞美電影節總監甄翠嬿(Susan Chinsen)， 曾任華埠主街經理的何陳素貞（Debbie Ho）。

波市府的“波士頓創造”將在華埠舉辦兩次座談討論會，就波市府應該有哪些足以代表華裔的文化、藝術活動或作品，徵詢華埠民眾意見。

“波士頓創造”除社區討論外，將請市民把自己認為好的文化和藝術地點，在市府文化藝術地圖上標註出來，再匯總整理後，供市民做為欣賞不同族裔文化，藝術活動，可以到哪裡去的參考。

茱利伯洛斯（Julie Burros）提及，在波士頓市長馬丁華殊的要求下，未來三年內，波士頓公立學校將分三批增加學校上課日（school days)，將容許各學校把文化、藝術，體育揉和進學校課程中。

“波士頓創造”共有16名委員，其中Miguel Rodriguez是波士頓巴洛克合奏團執行主任。他認為“波士頓創造”也給了藝術家機會，探討與社區接軌這概念。

            茱莉巴洛斯表示，“波士頓創造”還將邀請25名青少年參加討論，以期青少年也有機會自由表達他們對文化和藝術的看法。

麻州長指派新任麻州警察長

麻州州長查理貝克（Charlie Baker）昨（8）日宣佈，指派陸軍少校（Major）麥奇翁（Richard McKeon）為麻州警察長（Superintendent and Colonel of the Massachusetts State Police）。 麥奇翁已在麻州警察部門服務33年，目前擔任調查服務組副指揮。他將從七月十二日起，接替退休的艾本（Timothy Alben），出任該職，掌管2300名麻州警察。 麥奇翁從1982年加入麻州警察部門工作，迄今已33年，目前負責監管調查小組，行政資源，以及和州，市及聯邦政府之間的跨政府部門協調。 在2011年升任前述職位以來，他曾被派到屋斯特（Worcester）郡檢察官辦公室工作。 麥奇翁畢業於傅萊明罕州立學院，獲有麻州安娜瑪麗亞（Anna Maria）學院的刑事司法碩士學位。 Governor Charlie Baker Appoints New State Police Superintendent Major Richard McKeon to assume command of 2,300 Massachusetts State Police Troopers BOSTON – Today, Governor Charlie Baker announced the appointment of Major Richard McKeon to serve as Superintendent and Colonel of the Massachusetts State Police (MSP).
