This is one type of “Thousand Talents Program” especially for young scholars under the age of 40. 麻州中醫學會慶中秋 談糖尿病中醫療法
麻州中醫學會（Massachusetts Society of Chinese Medicine ，簡稱MSCM）日前舉辦哈佛醫學院中醫藥論壇暨中秋慶祝晚宴，邀福建中醫藥大學的中西醫結合學院院長施紅，講談“糖尿病中西醫結合序貫療法”。
麻州中醫學會會長張群豪表示，該會自成立以來，一直致力推動中西醫學之間的交流，互助，辦講座進修。目前該會共有不下八十名會員，約四十人出席了中秋慶祝會。當天的論壇在哈佛大學麥克林醫院（McLean Hospital）舉行，慶祝中秋晚宴在聚福軒。
福建中醫藥大學中西醫結合學院院長施紅在論壇中報告了她最近的研究心得，指出治療二型糖尿病，可用中醫藥方補助的做法。
施紅表示，二型糖尿病的基本病因是陰虛，氣虛，血瘀，伴隨著階段性的“溼、痰、熱”，有著從痰濁溼滯，陰虛燥熱，氣陰兩虛，陰陽兩虛，且血瘀的病勢演變規則，主要病位在乾，脾，腎。
她從中醫藥理的“象思維”出發，認為治糖尿病需去濕毒，補氣，滋陽，活氣血，清熱，瀉濁，並因此訂出三種藥方，並在辯證患者的胖瘦，性別後，調整藥量。經過多種糖尿病動物的基礎研究和臨床實驗後，證實序貫療法有三大特點，一為可快速改善患者的口乾，煩躁，便秘，乏力，腰痠等症狀，一為可擴大空腹血糖和餐後血糖的納入範圍，縮短血糖控制時間，一為可讓功能的差異基因表達恢復正常。其中改善患者口乾煩躁等症狀，很多時候只要一到兩次循環，就可顯示穩糖，降糖，改善血脂，血壓，延緩或逆轉併發症的綜合療效。
當天出席論壇者各獲得六個進修學分。

談聯邦政府關門 麻州長批國會瘋了
麻州州長派區克（Deval Patrick)昨（2)日談及聯邦政府關門的事，用“瘋狂（crazy)”來形容，並稱國會議員造成這一情況，是不負責任的行為，陷美國於困窘（embarrass）。
麻州州長派區克昨日召開族裔記者會，回應各式各樣的提問。第一個被問的問題，就是聯邦政府關門，對麻州有何影響。
派區克坦言，這兩，三天之內，還不會有太大影響，但若持續兩，三週，包括麻州在內的美國整體經濟，都將大受損傷。目前首當其衝的是接受聯邦經費的機關，部門。麻州政府內，約有4500名工作人員是經由聯邦政府經費資助聘僱，這些人是否還能保有一份工作，聯邦政府的約八萬名員工的未來命運，都將視乎下一步的發展而定。
派區克表示，他還看不到茶黨和政府妥協的可能，接受聯邦醫療補助（medicaid）的民眾，將如何因應，讓人擔心。他認為參眾兩院議長其實可以阻止此事的發生，但他也感嘆表示，什麼樣的人民，就有什麼樣的政府（we
got the government we deserved)。
派區克認為，聯邦政府關門造成的國家危機，是製造出來的(manufactured)危機，是少數國會議員把國家挾為人質的結果。他希望上帝會原諒這些人，但希望選民們不會忘記。
談及波士頓市的市長選舉，派區克坦言，很多人他都認識，不適宜評論，但他可以說，無論誰參選或當選，都無法忽視選民真正的需要，都得和有色人種選民互動。他認為萬寧路（Tom
Menion)市長認識到波士頓市是個在轉型中的城市，將帶著政績，昂首卸任。
不少出席的族裔記者探問派區克的出國商貿之旅。派區克坦言，未來兩周內，他將率領貿易團往訪加拿大，今年內還會另有兩次商貿出訪，但將待確定後才正式公佈。2007年曾赴上海，北京訪問的他透露，向麻州政府提出訪問邀請的單位很多，去年差一點他就要再去亞洲，但因故取消了。他希望在卸任前的未來15個月之內，能再到亞洲訪問一次。
