拜登今頒發總統自由獎章表揚 希拉蕊、喬治索羅斯、羅伯甘迺迪等19人

美國總統拜登

              (Boston Orange) 美國總統拜登 (Joe Biden) 將於今日 (1月4日)下午1點，在白宮頒發象徵美國民間最高榮譽的總統自由獎章，表揚曾為美國及世界做出巨大貢獻的19人。

              拜登總統將在頒獎典禮上發言，感謝他們曾為美國的繁榮、價值及安全，以及世界和平，或是其他的重大社會、公共，私人事件，有過傑出貢獻，使美國成為一個更好的地方。

美國前國務卿希拉蕊 (Hillary Rodham Clinton)

              這19人有前政府官員，歌影明星，以及慈善家，包括美國前國務卿希拉蕊 (Hillary Rodham Clinton) ，著名金融大鱷，創辦了開放社會基金會的喬治索羅斯 (George Soros) ，西班牙菜廚 José Andrés，具傳奇性的搖滾樂隊U2主唱Bono，曾得過5次艾美獎，4次金球獎，1次格來美獎的影星，也是著名的帕金森症研發擁護者Michael J. Fox，得過2次奧斯卡獎的著名導演及演員丹佐華盛頓 (Denzel Washington) ，著名籃球明星魔術強森 (Earvin “Magic” Johnson) ，促進同性戀族群權益的企業家Tim Gill，以慷慨支持重建歷史地標和美國文化機構文明的著名投資公司The Carlyle集團共同創辦人David M. Rubenstein等人。

              獲表揚者中有4人已辭世，分別為美國前國防部長Ashton Baldwin Carter，創辦密西西比自由民主黨，轉變美國境內族裔正義的Fannie Lou Hamer，曾任美國總檢察長，致力解決貧窮與不公平問題的羅伯甘迺迪 (Robert Francis Kennedy)，曾任美國汽車公司 (American Motors Corporation)主席及董事長，擔任過第43屆密西根州長，以及美國第3任住宅及市區發展部長的George Romney等人。

Ash Carter served as the 25th Secretary of Defense and devoted his career to making the nation safer for all. Throughout his career, he served under 11 Secretaries of Defense in both Democratic and Republican administrations.

Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer transformed the struggle for racial justice in America. As a founder of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, she challenged the exclusion of Black voices in the political system and laid the groundwork for the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

Earvin “Magic” Johnson
