紐英崙玉山科協年會談基因體學 看好台灣生醫產業機會

紐英崙玉山科技協會（MJNE）6月20日在劍橋市微軟科技中心舉辦年會，探討 “從基因體學到生醫產業機會（From Genomics Data to Business Opportunity）“，申論台灣生醫產業前景看好，籲各界7月，9月，11月回台灣參加3大會議，預告明年慶祝25週年。

玉山科協和波士頓台灣人生物科技協會(BTBA)，台美商業俱樂部波士頓分會合作舉辦這場年會，邀有中央研究院副院長暨基因體中心研究員陳建仁，生命科學國度顧問公司研究主任Michael Quigley，台灣生技整合育成中心醫務長陳恆德博士，輝瑞（Pfizer) 製藥人類基因主任邴南(Nan Bing)，比翼資本創始合夥人何淑圭，塔芙茨大學生醫工程系Fiorenzo G. Omentto博士等六名講者，從不同角度發表談話。

曾獲獎無數，2013年還得到梵蒂岡騎士獎的陳建仁，以“轉化醫學及台灣生物製藥發展”為主題，申論台灣的健康大數據及生物庫。

陳建仁指出，生醫產業是個既需資金，又講科技，還勞力密集的行業，在2010年時，要開發一種新藥，平均得花七年時間，美金12億元。

台灣為在國際競爭中迎頭趕上，2007年通過生技新藥發展條例， 2009到2013年，再藉由鑽石行動計畫，推動生物科技業產業化，在南港設立了國家生物科技研究園，把台灣的生醫產業總產值推動2769億元，2014年的上櫃生醫公司營收推至1593億元。

在2014年內，台灣廠商所開發的新藥，有143項已達臨床階段，獲得美國FDA許可進入臨床試驗的也有57項。

陳建仁也闡述了台灣在2011年到2016年間，每年編列台幣18億元的國家生物製藥研究項目，以及預定從2016年起推動，在健康，工業，農業等領域努力的生物經濟發展計畫，包括健康照護，醫材，藥品及服務等等。

陳建仁指出，全球生物醫藥產業的方向之一是個人化醫學，台灣正在因應大數據的四V趨勢，著眼於數量（Volume)，速度(Velocity)，品種(Variety)及準確性(Veracity)，打造國民健康資訊計畫，推動國際化的科技轉移。

生命科學國度顧問公司研究主任Michael Quigley在會中不但解釋了該公司為生命科技公司和投資者配對的模式，還坦率指點有意找投資的生命科學公司該如何展現自己。

玉山科協這場年會的其他講者，分別討論了“台灣橋接新藥研發和學術創新及商業化的國家策略”，“精準醫學中的遺傳學”，“活物質:生命邊緣（live materials- A Life on the Edge)”。

紐英崙玉山科這場年會由會長曾宓，駐波士頓台北經濟文化辦事處處長賴銘琪致開幕致詞，康麗雪， Hank Lin，李湘盈，陳映嘉，曾宓等人擔任講座主持，經文處經濟組組長石大玲強調商業機會，敦請出席者在今年7月，9月，11月，回台灣依序參加台灣生技大會，全球招商論壇，以及醫療電子與器材國際高峰論壇（MEDit）等活動。

大會最後在汪威凱主持的座談中結束。

Monte Jade New England, a professional association focusing on biotechnology, held its 24^th Annual Conference this past Saturday at Microsoft Technology Center. The conference theme is “From Genomics Data to Business Opportunities”, attracted more than 150 attendees to listen to six distinguished speakers to share their visions and experience.

The Keynote speaker, Dr. Chien-Jen Chen (陳建仁), Vice President of Academia Sinica and Distinguished Research Fellow of Genomic Research Center (中央研究院副院長和基因體研究中心特聘研究員) in Taiwan, provided the overall roadmaps of genome research and drug discovery initiatives in Taiwan, and the plan to open up its healthcare big data – databases of claims, oncology registry, and death registry - for research and potentially commercial utilization. Dr. Herng-Der Chern (陳恆德) M.D., Ph.D., Chief Medical Officer, Supra Integration and Incubation Center (台灣生技整合育成中心), illustrated the national strategy to commercialize academic research in drug discovery and funding opportunities to support startup companies. Olivia Ho Cheng, a successful entrepreneur and CEO of BE Pacific, shared her market view and vision of investing in the hospital privatization in China. Other speakers include Michael Quigley, Director of Research at Life Science Nation, Dr. Nan Bing, Director of Human Genetics of Pfizer, and Dr. Fiorenzo Omentto, professor of biomedical engineering at Tufts University, talked about topics ranging from turning ideas into a successful business, role of genetics in precision medicine, and the surprising new applications of silk.

The conference was concluded with a panel discussion around the challenges and application of big data, followed by a networking session.

新英格蘭玉山科技協會舉行「從基因體學到生醫產業機會」年會

新英格蘭玉山科技協會於上週六(2015年六月二十日)在微軟技術中心 (Microsoft Technology Center) 舉行第二十四屆年會， 主題是「從基因體學到生醫產業機會」。本次年會吸引了一百五十多位與會者來聆聽六位傑出講者分享他們對此主題的見地及經驗。新英格蘭玉山科技協會與駐波士頓台北經濟文化辦事處經濟組的「台美商業俱樂部」及波士頓台灣人生物科技協會共同舉辦此次活動。

首先，專題講者陳建仁博士(中研院副院長及基因體中心特聘研究員)為與會者勾勒出在台灣基因體研究的藍圖、以及未來對醫療大數據的規劃，包括病歷及健保雲端數據庫，不僅可作為研究用途，更可望將來應用於生醫產業的創新。台灣生技整合育成中心醫務長陳恆德博士則說明目前台灣對學術界新藥研發的研究成果技術轉移到業界的支持政策、及扶持新創生技公司的經費項目。比翼資本創始合夥人何淑圭副董事長則以創業家及投資者的角度分析中國私人醫療系統的市場與經驗。其他講者包括生命科學國度顧問公司 Michael Quigley研究主任、輝瑞(Pfizer)藥廠人體基因研究主任邴南博士、塔夫茨(Tufts)大學醫學工程系Fiorenzo Omentto教授，分別分享了：「從創新想法到成功創業」、「基因在個人化醫療扮演的角色」、「絲綢材料的多種新應用」等主題。年會最後以「大數據未來的應用及挑戰」論壇討論及會後熱烈的交流時間，作了完美的總結。
