波多黎各退伍軍人紀念碑協會會長莫利納
(譯音， Antonio Molina) 在紀念儀式中說，以人均比率來算，在戰場中殞落的波多黎各人比任何其他國家的人都多。他還透露自己1965年在越南戰爭的戰場上，被游擊手一槍打中頭部，卻大難不死的經歷。

麻州州長查理貝克在致詞時激動地說，正是這樣的故事，應該不斷被傳頌。查理貝克也讚許波士頓退伍軍人局局長Roberto
Santiago對陣亡將士紀念日意義的解釋。他認為波多黎各退伍軍人紀念碑協會當天的紀念儀式，紀念陣亡將士們為保家衛國所作犧牲，感謝陣亡將士家人把他們的親人獻給國家，就像在波士頓廣場以旗海花園紀念那從美國革命戰爭以來的37,000名陣亡將士的行動一樣，表揚著這許多人以生命為後代換取來更好的國家與社會。

2022年5月30日的這場紀念活動，出席的民眾人數並不多，但政要不少，在麻州長、波士頓是長之外，薩福克郡治安官Steven
Tompkins，麻州眾議員 Jon Santiago，波士頓市議會議長Ed
Flynnn，市議員Erin Murphy，Ruthzee Loujieune等人都出席了獻花圈，升旗，致詞儀式。
吳弭市長在致詞中指出，波多黎各退伍軍人紀念碑廣場是麻州，也大概是美國唯一的一個波多黎各退伍軍人紀念碑及廣場，她知道還有很多活動在進行中，也在募款中，她相信為保持這傳統，還會有許多後續行動。
波士頓華裔退伍軍人會大約二、三年前起，也在商討籌建華裔退伍軍人紀念碑，或紀念廣場事宜，並有人提議過把夏利臣街上的菲利普廣場改建為華裔退伍軍人紀念廣場，不過目前還未傳出任何進展。
薩福克跑馬場昨晚6級大火
(Boston Orange 編譯) 東波士頓的薩福克跑馬場 (Suffolk Downs) 看臺在5月30日晚約10點時，發生火警，火勢一路攀升。消防局出動了數達千呎長的接駁水管，一架無人機，最後才撲滅已升為6級的大火。
大火是在晚上10點左右被人發現的，由於火勢不斷增強，波士頓消防局局長John Dempsey在午夜時下令，以6級火警規模處理。
由於火警現場附近消防栓不足，消防員們得動用長達千餘尺的水管來接水滅火，火勢最後燒上屋頂。
這個看臺是用來向全美轉播跑馬賽的地方，整個場地有161畝大，正在進行大規模的重新發展。
擁有這務業的HYM投資集團上星期才在這位於瑞維爾 (Revere)市的薩福克跑馬場，舉行了破土動工儀式，要把這建於1935年，有著許多歷史的純種馬賽場，改建為生命科學用地，並蓋1000多戶房屋。
這地方直到2019年都還在舉行現場比賽，也一直都在做全年聯播。
火災的火勢雖大，但無人傷亡。
90分鐘內 波士頓警察在多徹斯特、麥特潘起獲10把槍

(Boston Orange 編譯) 5月30日下午4點半多，波士頓警察在90分鐘內，分別從多徹斯特和麥特潘的2起事件中，起獲10把槍，其中1起事件還發生了襲警情況。
波士頓警察表示，這2起事件源於波士頓警察打擊青年暴力工作小組的調查。
第一起事件發生於下午4點半，波士頓警察在多徹斯特亞當街540號調查後，逮捕了2名嫌犯，28歲住在波士頓的Donta
Lewis，以及21歲住在Walpole的Lamont
Jacobs-Barrows。
這2人一見到警察，拔腿就跑，稍後被捕。警察說，在他們逃跑時，Lewis丟掉1把槍，Jacob-Barrows丟掉了另外2把，警察總共找到3把槍。
他們將在多徹斯特市級法院，面對槍枝與彈葯相關的控罪。
在時間過去不到90分鐘時，大約是6點15分，警察在麥特潘的Elizabeth
街17號一帶，警察又逮捕了7名嫌犯，發現7把槍。
警察還未確認這7人的身分。警方表示，事件發生時，他們正向一名他們在調查中的一名成年男子走過去。那人徒步逃跑，把1把槍丟棄在一輛停著的汽車中。
警察後來逮捕了那人，但正準備用車把這嫌犯送走時，一大群人圍向逮捕人的警察。從其他地方趕來支援的警察抵達後，在附近發現6把槍，還又逮捕了3個人，控以槍枝相關罪名。
接著警方又以攻擊警察罪名，再逮捕3人。警方在這事件中共逮捕7人，預定在多徹斯特法庭傳訊。

GOVERNOR BAKER: “I think
the fact that you call it a garden gives it a special sense of perpetuity and
grace and puts forth that notion that this is ground to be tended and
treated with the respect and the sense of love and devotion that it
deserves.
“And I know I
speak for myself and the Lieutenant Governor and everybody on our team,
when I say how much those of us who get a chance to participate in this game
called democracy – that we all know we sit on the shoulders of every one of
these flags behind me, and the families and the stories and the histories that
they represent.
“And every
flag like that everywhere, all over the world – that represents a fallen
serviceman or servicewoman who's died in the defense of freedom here in this
country.
“The common
line in this is freedom isn't free. The part we don't always say: It is
profoundly expensive, in human terms and financial terms.
“And part of
what makes this event so special for me and for the Lieutenant
Governor,
and our team, is the walk that many of the folks who are sitting in these
chairs and standing here wearing those yellow flowers will take as they come up
here and remind us of the size of the human cost, and the human loss and the
human sacrifice that comes with all of this.
“And to those
of you who are going to take this walk today, I just want you to know that for
me and for the Lieutenant Governor, it is in many ways
the most powerful and impactful moment of Memorial Day weekend and has been
every time we've been here to watch you walk up here and speak the name, again,
of your lost loved one.
“In some
respects, it's a constant reminder to all of us that it's more than just it's
not free – this thing we call freedom. People pay an enormous price so that the
rest of us can benefit from it.
“God bless
you all. Thank you.”
In honor
of Memorial Day, Governor Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the
Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise
until noon and full staff from noon until sunset on Monday, May 30, 2022. The
order applies to the main or administration building of each public institution
of the Commonwealth, other state-owned or state-controlled buildings and all
state military installations.

許多這些喪生軍人的家屬，這天各自胸前別著一朵黃花，依序列隊，在莊嚴樂音飄揚的紀念儀式中，為這片旗海，插上最後的幾面旗。

這人們通常不去說的部份，”它”極端昂貴，無論是人，或者是錢。

在紀念儀式中，包括麻州副州長白莉朵 (Karen Polito)、麻州財政長高柏珂 (Deb Goldberg)都加入了唸出亡故軍人姓名行列。
這週末，麻州各地都有紀念退伍軍人的活動，昆士市在5月30日一早，還舉行了紀念退伍軍人遊行。麻州州長查理貝克和波士頓市長吳弭 (Michelle Wu)將於這天中午到南端，出席波多黎各退伍軍人紀念儀式。
波士頓警察局加買高性能無人機 關注隱私人士感憂慮
(Boston Orange 編譯) 波士頓環球報稱，波士頓警察局沒通知波士頓市議會及民眾，就悄悄擴大了無人機偵查計畫，擁護隱私權人士對警察局使用科技不透明，感到憂慮。
波士頓環球報稱，該報拿到文件，知道3月初時，波士頓警察局又採購了一架高性能的無人機，還計畫設立無人機小組來操作。這架2萬5千元的無人機是波士頓警察局使用的第8架無人機。警察局發言人John
Boyle警探說，所有的警察局無人機仍只限於用在經過批准的行動中，例如犯罪現場重建，或是在包括波士頓馬拉松賽等特別活動中做安全監督。
不過波士頓警察局的這擴張行動，再度引發人們對警察可能用無人機來執行例行監督，觸犯了人民反對未授權搜查的第四修正案權力。
波士頓市議會去年秋天通過條例，要求波士頓警察局從7月20日起向該會揭露之前以及未來採購的所有監察科技，另外也要求波士頓警察局在採購新科技之前獲得市議會批准，以容許市議會檢視警察局已經採買的科技，並決定警察局是否可以繼續使用。

根據麻州美國公民自由聯盟
(ACLU) 的資料，麻州只有十幾個警察局常常使用無人機。在所有向州政府機構登記在案的無人機中，執法機構擁有的無人機佔了40%。
在WBUR電台及ProPublica的調查於去年底發現，警察局避過公眾眼光，使用據稱來自犯罪事件中的錢，購買了間諜軟件後，警察局的悄悄購買歷史就引發人們的顧慮。

Crockford表示，像這樣的採買及使用科技，應該在購買及使用之前經過審查，因為我們看到泰經常得，這些秘密採購的工具不成比例的備用在黑及棕色鄰里之中。

波士頓警察局最近向Ascent
Aerosystems這家本地公司買了蔗架無人機，以及支援設備。波士頓市政府的採購單顯示，波士頓警察局選購了這家公司的全天候，高性能Spirit無人機，價格1萬4千元，物體追蹤熱像儀，1萬元，還有其他幾件設備。
管理波士頓警察局無人機的警探 Carl Blando在寫給市府，說明採購理由的信中解釋，警察局在找多功能的無人機，以用於各種任務，包括群眾管理，犯罪現場繪圖，執行拍照，拍視頻，以及其他特別環境，或由局長、總監，經理或指定人士指派的特別活動。
在採買監察設備之外，警察還想聘用並訓練15名警察，在”隨叫隨到”的基礎上，使用這些無人機。根據波士頓環球報得到的文件顯示，警察局上週五就開始接受使用申請了。操作無人機的警察需要持有聯邦航空局的有效執照，以及特別為小無人機發放的遙控駕駛證書。

Lara等幾名市議員表示，她不知道波士頓警察局最近又買了無人機，並強調在法令生效後，檢視警察採購的所有監察科技的重要性。
第43屆波士頓龍舟節訂6月12日舉行 48隊參賽
香港駐紐約經濟貿易辦事處三十年來如一日，給予波士頓龍舟節最有力的支持，是波士頓龍舟節的冠名讚助者，並贈送給龍舟節最早的六條龍舟，現在仍將繼續贈送龍舟，替補經過二十年已經老舊的龍舟。今年正值香港回歸中國25年紀念，香港駐紐約經貿辦事處將會給遊人們帶來特別的活動、紀念品和圖片展示。
龍舟比賽清晨開始，文化節目則午間開場。所有的活動均為免費。贊助商、主辦方及特邀嘉賓將於十二時為龍舟點睛。按照中國傳統習俗，龍在點睛之後騰飛昇起。為點睛儀式助威的是華林派的舞龍舞獅和大波士頓文協的腰鼓舞。
今年龍舟節的文藝演出，有受歷年端午節龍舟賽觀眾歡迎的大波士頓文協的扯鈴和音樂表演，也有豐富的亞洲各國表演， 包括泰國、印度、韓國和中國傳統舞蹈、韓國武術表演，以及傳統中國舞龍舞獅和日式大鼓表演等。
大波士頓太極學校和巾幗舞獅隊仍將帶來互動演示，請觀衆學習並參與太極和舞獅。除了曆年最受歡迎的大波士頓文協傳統手工製作之外，龍舟節組委會還會給大家帶來各種亞洲遊戲與手工，並分髮免費小冊子，供遊人帶回家學習製作， 今年衆多亞洲美食攤位擺賣將為大家帶來各式亞洲美食，敬請光臨。
每年農歷五月初五（陽歷五月下旬至6月中旬）的端午節是為了紀念中國古代詩人愛國人士屈原（340-278 BCE）。作為楚國的政治領袖，屈原被認為是中國第壹家傑出的詩人。屈原失去了國王的青睞並且被被驅逐出他的家鄉楚國，是因為他反對向強大的秦國妥協。在流亡期間，他寫的詩“離騷”顯示屈原對故國和人民的極大忠誠。公元前278，屈原聽聞楚國已經被入侵。在絕望中他在汨羅江自盡。等楚國人趕到河裏去救他已經來不及了，他們便裏粽子投向江水以紀念屈原愛國的精神，同時也希望吃了粽子的魚兒們能夠讓屈原安息。
如今端午節龍舟賽已經成為世界上的壹項熱門運動和節慶，而北美的第壹箇龍舟節就是在1979年時始創於波士頓，迄今四十三周年，近年來每年有三萬人前來參加。 這個慶祝活動向美國和世界人民介紹端午節龍舟賽，為推廣中國的以及亞洲的文化，發揮了巨大的作用。在大家的參與和支持下，波士頓龍舟節會越辦越好。

Boston Mayor is Keynote Speaker at First In-Person Graduation Ceremony in Three Years
BOSTON, MA (May 26, 2022)—Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) held its 48th Commencement Exercises on Thursday, with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu addressing graduates as keynote speaker and recipient of the College’s Presidential Distinguished Service Award.
The largest community college in Massachusetts, BHCC enrolls nearly 18,000 students each year. One thousand two hundred and ninety-nine students graduated with an associate degree or certificate.
“Bunker Hill is an incredible college—dedicated to creating opportunities, and opening doors, for all its students,” Mayor Wu said to gathered students, faculty, and staff. “But it is an even more incredible community. I have heard from students who came here afraid that their past performance would determine their future opportunities… And in every case, no matter your situation, I know that, here, you were told: Let us know what you need in order to learn. Let us help you accomplish your goals.”
The Presidential Distinguished Service Award is given annually to a leader in Greater Boston who exemplifies service to the Bunker Hill Community and to the communities the college serves.
BHCC President Pam Y. Eddinger presided over the ceremony and addressed graduates in the college’s first in-person commencement in three years.
“If you use your power to actualize your own potential, if you use your power to affirm your own dignity, then you can reach across to your neighbor and join your power to theirs,” Eddinger told graduates. “We rise, together.”
In addition to Wu, two other awards were presented at the ceremony: the Trustees’ Distinguished Service Award, presented by College Board of Trustees Vice Chair R. Kelly Cameron to the co-chairs of the College’s ReOpen Task Force, Transition Team, and Mental Health Commission, each of which were deeply involved in planning and policy-making at the college during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Be well-read...be well-spoken...be well-traveled...be well-dressed...be well-balanced,” Cameron told members of the graduating class.
Professor of Biology and Chemistry Libby Dunphy gave the faculty address to the graduating class. “Today...you should be proud of yourself. You have earned this,” Dunphy said. “I hope you know that you are an inspiration to me. It is a pleasure to teach students who are hard-working, serious, and above-all curious.”
Eddinger also presented College Student Government Association President Chase Baker with the President’s Leadership Award, given annually to a student who exemplifies leadership at the College. “As we face our next challenges, don’t forget that you and you alone–not family, not social expectations–define what constitutes your success,” Baker said. “And don't be surprised if that changes throughout your career. Whatever the future may hold, now is the time for celebration! You should all be immensely proud of what you have achieved.”
About the BHCC Class of 2022
Bunker Hill Community College is the youngest and the largest of the 15 Community Colleges in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The College serves nearly 18,000 students per year, including 600 international students from 94 countries, speaking more than 75 languages.
