昆士市設風雪救難基金 3/13將籌款

Storm Relief Fund Created; Special Event March 13 At Alba
QUINCY – Mayor Thomas Koch and Ward 1 Councillor David McCarthy announced today the creation of a relief fund to benefit victims of the devastating March 2 storm highlighted by a community fund-raiser slated for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 hosted by Alba Restaurant owner Leo Keka.
Donations may be made payable to “Quincy Storm Relief Fund” and mailed c/o Eastern Bank - B366, 34 Chapman Street, Quincy, MA 02170 or dropped at any Eastern Bank location. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the door of the fund-raiser.
The fund will be administered by Quincy Community Action Programs. Flooding victims should call 617-657-5320 or e-mail quincystormrelief@qcap.org to begin a brief and confidential application process. The fund will be able to provide some immediate assistance. Benefit caps will be established. One-hundred percent (100%) of the fund proceeds will be used directly to help households.
“Many members of our community are going through a terrible ordeal right now, and at the same time so many people want to step up and help. We hope this effort will provide a little immediate assistance to our neighbors at a time when they need it most,” said Mayor Koch and Councillor McCarthy in a joint statement. “We are tremendously grateful to Quincy Community Action Programs for offering their expertise and resources in administering the fund and to Leo for hosting the event. Neither had to be asked to help – they stepped up and offered. It is partners like them, and all the folks who have asked to help, that make Quincy such a special community.”
The fund is being designed for victims hardest hit by the storm – those who suffered severe property damage; who may be displaced from their homes for a long period time; who lost personal and family belongings; and those in need of assistance for basic necessities. Fund administrators ask that those who may have only suffered multiple days of power loss to consider if they need the assistance. By the same token, people should feel comfortable asking for assistance, and that is why the benefits process will be confidential.
Tuesday’s event will include food and entertainment, as well raffle and door prizes.
