On Friday,
September 6, 2013, there will be a forum held to hear from mayoral candidates
about their plans for job creation in Boston. This event is being hosted by
five community and jobs coalitions: Action for Regional Equity, Boston Jobs
Coalition, Community Labor United, Right to the City Boston, and Youth, Justice
and Power Union.
Topics
will include:
•
Increasing
access to construction and permanent jobs for Boston residents, specifically
people of color and women.
•
Setting a
city standard for wages and benefits for jobs in companies that receive city
funds or tax breaks.
•
Expanding
access and funding for youth summer and year round jobs.
•
Raising
job quality and standards, the right to form unions, and increasing the minimum
wage.
•
Ending
discrimination in public hiring.
The forum will take place September 6, 2013, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the
Reggie Lewis Center Gymnasium, 1350 Tremont Street, Boston.
